Don't know if y'all are interested but

It is amazing how quickly you can find stuff in Google just typing in a screen name + disboards. Add in the flu yesterday, laying in bed, bored and with my laptop - makes for a very dangerous combination :surfweb:

Did you know she is a fan of Girls Next Door, the show that has Hugh Hefner's girlfriends on it? Or at least she was asking if anybody had ever seen Holly Madison at the World, as Holly is always saying on the show that she loves Disney. She may be closer to our trashy standards than she realizes :happytv:

If it wasn't for the Universal bashing, I might actually like her ;)

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Now we're getting OT, but the meal deal is my pet peeve about US/IOA. I really wish that they would relook their program so that it involved more restaurants (maybe even the resorts) and more menu selection. I would gladly spend more if the plan better resembled Disney's.

I don't think any of us took exception to anyone not liking US/IOA but did not appreciate when the OP of the offending thread based their judgements on generalizations and misinformation - that is why I feel we must avoid the same errors.

I may have a solution to your problem. ;) We don't purchase the meal plan either, because we really don't care for CS food. We often have breakfast or lunch in our room to avoid it. Occasionally, we save money by eating one meal a day in, then spend more on the other two. Unfortunately, we often spend too much on dinner. That's precisely the reason we've decided to take a 2nd trip to UO in Sept. We're hoping Orlando will host a dining month like they did last year. I don't know why they wouldn't, because the other cities who have a similar program do it yearly. Anyway, last September, both Emeril's & Tchoup Chop offered 3 course meals for $17 (lunch) & $29 (dinner). There were also several other good restaurants in the area offering the same deal. That's an incredible price for those restaurants. When we go in July, we'll probably skip Emeril's in favor of some of the restaurants not offering the special in Sept. When we go in Sept., we'll make up for it by going twice or three times. :teeth: We can plan another DIS meet in Sept. for all of us who want great food at a cheap price. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I kinda agree on the Meal Deal. Not so much because the food is bad. It's not (it's just as good as the equivalent you'd get at Disney). But because the limited choices are so boring. I haven't recommended it ever.

But what amused me is that someone who goes to Disney all the time suddenly feels the need to scrimp and save at Universal, which gives you a week for less than a one-day Park Hopper!

Heck, you can have a meal at Mythos that's every bit as good as what you'd get at California Grill or Flying Fish, except it will cost half as much!

To steal from Shakespeare, "Methinks the lady doth protest too much."

I sure hope you are referring to the OP of the offending thread and not me - I'm no lady but my wife is. I disagree with you though Kelly, my personal opinion of the Universal meal deal is that they have picked the bottom tier of their counterservice restaurants and then picked the bottom tier of those restaurants menus - ending up with really limited choices of their most mediocre food. I think that there are some very good choices available at US/IOA but because of the "unlimited" trips to the trough, they have eliminated the best selections. For me, I would gladly spend the apx. $40 that Disney charges for a similar food plan that included the Enchanted Oak, Pastamore, Sam's, etc. as counterservice options and all the CityWalk restaurants, Mythos, the Kitchen, etc. as table service options. However, I do understand why it won't be introduced - they're getting my money there anyways.

Another US/IOA bashing thread has bit the dust and has been closed. I find it odd that when questioning the "facts" we were accused of piling on but the OP did not return to defend the supposed facts. Maybe we were just too nasty.

Nasty? Not us!:rotfl:

The OP is on vacation -- I think that is what she said in her post. I can't believe she would actually post a thread like that during her vacation.

Yup, according to the schedule she posted, today is supposed to be her third Universal day. Wonder if she went back?

So sad really, that a post like that happened. Can't people understand that Universal is NOT Disney, and Disney is NOT Universal? To all who responded to her comment, very well said. I think the examples given by you were fantastic - I don't get the whole Disney vs. Universal thing?!?!? I like each of them for what they offer - do I have to pick a favorite? (Well, ok, I have, but would I insult the other because of it?? NO!!! Just like my mother wouldn't insult her other kids, because, clearly, I'm her favorite, and she taught me to respect the other kids!! ;) )

i'm still trying to figure out "the woman was wet" statement on that closed thread. i love horror make up show and seen it numerous times. sometimes twice in one day.

i can't place that statement of the woman being wet.
is it when he uses the squirt gun on the woman in the front row that didn't give him sympathy when he was in the "dying " scene when he first comes out in the beginning of the show?

i do both parks. all i want to do is ride the rides at disney and stay away from the parades.

i'd stay a full two weeks at universal but the hotel bill adds up for that long of a stay. longest i have stayed at universal hrh is 6 nights....and it wasn't long enough for us.

universal is kewl and has mummy dust.
that's my story and i'm sticking to it.......:rolleyes1

Well reading her post, its obvious she wanted a Disney vacation and didn't really get one. They probably decided it was more economical to go to Universal/ Seaworld. She wanted Disney and didn't get it. I can understand her dissapointment, but she didn't have to trash US and those of us who go there.

Being as thread was closed I started reading other threads on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board and there is one interesting one

Does anyone else eat, sleep and breathe Disney before you go?
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1456798

I am going to Universal in 2 1/2 months and do not sleep eat and breathe it - well except here - hmmm does this board count? Well I dont eat and sleep it. Guess two out three is ok.

These people need professional help. I have started and deleted many posts about disney fanatics/maniacs but this thread tells it all. Its no wonder "they" cannot handle a trip to Universal cause they are brainwashed!! They defend disney to the death - you would think they are on the board of directors.

Is it just me, or do a lot of these "Disneynutz" seem to be housewives? :confused3

Just looking at the "Eat sleep breathe Disney" thread made me wonder.

I'm going to Denver next Fri and I'm not "Eat sleep breathe"-ing it. I'm going to CA in Sept and will be hitting both Disney and Uni over there. Again, no "eat breathe sleep"-ing of either park.

:confused3

You got that right! I don't understand the way these people covet Disney so much and yet when we try to defend Universal, we're all Godsmack loving trash. :sad2:

You're not "eat sleep breathing" Denver? But, but...our fair city is at least as good as Disney :rotfl2:

Anyway, a pre-welcome and hope you have a great time here.
