We booked an on the whim trip for Memorial Day weekend and a few days thereafter. Hubster and I started talking about places to eat. Of course I knew with it being so close we wouldn't be able to get crowd favorites, so I've been making ADRs here and there for different places. The hubster brought up trying to get Chef Mickey's as he wants to try it and thinks DD will like it as well...and we can cross it off the WDW "bucket list.". I told him it would be next to impossible.

So I try for a few days back to back last week. Nothing. I figure at some point I'll try calling and speaking to a CM on the dining line. Not really set on getting it, but it's worth a shot. Note: all my attempts have been online.....

So tonight, erm, this morning, I am up, can't sleep, and try looking for other dinner ideas on the night of our arrival. I am looking at all the available restruants Disney is showing as available when I catch "Chef Mickey's" at a decent time as well.....AMAZING!

I don't know how I got so lucky.

awesome!!! I too am looking forward to Chef Mickey's for our trip in Oct! I think it is something that you just have to do!!! Where else do you get Mickey and ALL of his friends in one place???

You could also meet Mickey and his friends at Tusker House Breakfast at AK.:goodvibes

Awesome!!!

We also decided to go just a few weeks back.. we leave in less than two weeks!! I tried so hard to get Chef Micky with no luck.. two days ago, I was sitting with DH watching tv, I got the laptop and did my usual routine haha I searched all character dining for the days we are in.. and when I saw Chef Micky I actually screamed haha DH was so scared.. now he just thinks I'm crazy ;) It was a 7:05 dinner! Not bad!

That's exactly what I did at 3 a.m. when I saw CM on the list. I thought "No way, this is a glich" but I got the ressie and the conformation number to go along with it. I got an 8:00 dinner. Would have loved 7, but will take 8. Now had it been 9 or 10, I might have turned it down and tried again later. We usually like to eat around 7ish...now this just means to decide what park we plan to be in and try for a lunch ressie to satisfy us before our "late" dinner.

Our whole arrival day works out perfect. We are driving down the day before and stayign offsite right outside DTD. We will drive over to SSR and check-in around 8 (I know our room won't be ready), but we will be at whatever park at rope drop (unless they have early EMH for whatever park we choose). Then we can just have fun in a park all day until we get our "room is ready" text and then head back to the hotel in the afternnon, unpack, do some swimming, and then head to dinner at CM. It's a quiet evening for us, because normaly we spend EVERY night of our trip in MK watching the parade, riding rides, and the fireworks. LOL! A small change from the norm.

We've decided after 6 trips int he past 3 years to start and keep track of a WDW "bucket list." Eventually it will be something like "stay at every DVC resort/deluxe resort," "watch Fantasmic..." You know "eat at CM" has to be on that list.

That's great.

I know what you mean, too. I booked a Le Cellier dinner reservation (5:55 PM too) TWO HOURS before hand last Friday afternoon, from my cell in the park!

I didn't see this before I just posted my thread with basically the same thought. I don't know why, but I just got super lucky when I had to re-book reservations because we moved our vacation up one week.

I got everything no problem. It was very nice.
Even poked around for Le Cellier and O'Hana just to see and both had dinner spots open. I didn't take them, was only curious if I could get them. Weird, but true.
