Don't go there

I'm sorry but this stuff is funny. I really can't believe how many people go to Disney and "leave their IQs at home". :)

That website is the worst! Not the content which is just normal working with the general public complaints, but their writing is atrocious!!

They can't spell or even string three words together to form a proper sentence. It's awful. I want to register just to correct all their grammatical errors.

Every sig line has something in it about stupid people. That is so funny to me considering how bad they write.

I think there must be a lot of HS drop outs on that site-heck-middle school drop outs!

Lucky,
Have you ever run a grammer check on the posts on the DIS? There are lots of times I can't even figure out the posters point or where the sentences begin or end.

(Not to mention I can't spell and can't type!)

Teenagers do a lot of Instand Message type posting. You just type in shorthand. They all understand each other so why should we care.

Okay, that was a funny read!:) Some days you just need that.....
(BTW, I work for the USPS, we get those customers when they're NOT on vacation!):)

I've been a CM and now work for Walmart.. I loved being a CM and I will return to be one hopefully soon but no matter how much you love work some days its just work. Especially after being asked for the dozenth time wearing maroon polyester pants with a hidious white/maroon top (Monorails) or the Teal Beauty (F! Crowd Control) if I worked there-- it gets frustrating. Or when you turn away the same lady 7 times from Rock n Roller Coaster as her child HASNT grown 4 inches in 20 minutes- its frustrating- But for every bad moment a good made up for it. I know I have just as many amazing moments as I do what the ___ were they thinking moments. But it is sad when moments like watching a dad pull his child up against a 6 ft textured cement wall trying to sneak her onto R n R Coaster still stand out pretty vividly-

I rather enjoyed that site. Alot more than the Walmart Associate bashing one- Now that is pathetic...

Just a few remarks from someone who lives in the UK. I work in the Customer Services Sector and and customer care is one of the most important factors considered. To get to WDW it costs a lot of money and saving for us and if I thought for one moment that a cast member was relishing in a 'stupid' question which I had genuinely asked or even worse had given me the incorrect answer I would sure report him/her.

In my line of work we have mystery shoppers who call and check out our customer service and knowledge and this is relayed to our Head Office and then to ourselves. If we do not meet a certain percentage it is not taken lightly. Perhaps they should have mystery shoppers in WDW.

These cast members need to remember who is paying their wages - if we don't go there and ask 'stupid' questions they would not be needed.

I will sure watch out for them next year. It costs nothing to have good manners and respect.

Sorry if I have offended anyone however as I said before it costs a lot for us to go to WDW.

LOL, that's what we get for leaving and exploring other boards, same thing happened to me, I guess i deserved it, stay at home where i belong!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Carrickdisfan , I do mystery shopping work here in the US and my dream job would be mystery shopping DW. Just consider the idea of getting paid to go to DW every day? (ahhhhhhhh!)

Seriously, I do wonder if they have such. Anyone know??

I saw on the forum we are talking about that they do have mystery shoppers at Disney. From what I could tell, they are a very regular occurance.

In looking at this web site again, it seems that a large majority of the abusive stories threads are started by one poster (IndyandMarion). I suspect this person is more talk than action and has exagerated (if not totally made up) most of his stories. If he did/said half of what he claims, he would be "termed" (as they put it on the site).

Still, I'm sure some of it happens and I for one would not hesitate to report a CM that was obviously being abusive. But it would have to be pretty obvious as they deserve the benefit of the doubt -- they have bad days too.

Although I found the guest "tricks" to be very funny and some of the rude guest stories to be outrageous, what bothered me about some of the posts was the general sense of meanness. Referring to Annual Passholders as "those big fat obnoxious *ssholders" seems a bit out of line..
Having worked with the public, I know how frustrating it can be and agree everyone needs a place to vent, but nasty personal attacks doesn't seem like a good way to go.
I get the feeling that some of these CM's don't feel they are being fairly compensated/supported by WDW for what they do.
Just my 2 cents...

5DisneyNuts, guess I did not read it all that throughly. I had the impression that many of the posts were written by immature persons though. I did notice what Dirkus noticed about who wrote the majority of the nastier posts. I always tell my kids and grands that it is easier to get attention for being bad rather than being good since it does not take any talent to be so.

BTW, I might be fat, but sure hope I am not obnoxious (most of the time)

Too much attention being paid to this site IMHO. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it there is a theory that it makes no noise. I believe that by leaving that site and ignoring it that it will go away all on its own. Look how few posters they have and how many we have. Positive always wins out.

If you only knew how much is said by a great number of CM's behind the scenes from hourly up to management.

Let's not forget WDW is a business first and foremost and the CM's go through the same frustrations just like the employees of many other companies. Why would it be any different?

I read a lot of the comments and just thought they were blowing off steam, some even were funny! I don't think what they had to say about guests are any worse than some DISers report about guests and I don't think any of the comments about rude guests were any crueler than what some of the DISers have to say about rude CMs. It's hard to deal with the public for a long period of time and not come to the conclusion that some people are just dumb.

I was not really offended by any of the posts.....Some people are just complainers. Other people maintain positive attitudes, and rarely compain about anything. I try to stay away from the complainers because I perceive them as negativity spreaders.

What concerned me most was the poor spelling and grammar in the postings! As a ninth grade English teacher, I want to round up these CM's and provide a little grammar 101. Really, did you see the sentence structure? Scary!

Rhetorical Question:

While at Walt Disney World, have you ever seen a guest do something stupid, dangerous, rude, and possibly illegal?

If the answer is no, then you must not be visiting the same Walt Disney World that I do. Every time I'm there I see guests act in ways that amaze me. I've often wondered why the badly behaved were not given a swift escort out of the park and off the property. From the tone of the cast members it is obvious that management is unwilling to confront a guest in almost all instances of inappropriate behavior. Cast members do not have the authority to remove those who deserve it, so they vent. What's wrong with that?

Also, I think most of the posts were a scream, and spot on. Considering how too many guests treat the cast members, I think the "bite" of the posts is more than understandable.

By the way, how's my writing?

I'm actually amazed that the majority of CMs hold it together when "on stage" as well as they do, considering some of the treatment they receive. Two bartenders at the World--both working in one of the parks--have told my DH and I that "guests" actually threw drinks on them--one person was angry because the CM wouldn't serve his underage son, the other because the bar ran out of his favorite beer. It's amazing how abusive people can be--I always wonder if they behave this way at home, or if somehow they feel entitled to do whatever they want because they are spending a lot of money on vacation. Either way, it is appalling...
