Don't get out the flames just yet

Thanks Luke, it must have bypassed me then, or maybe not sold up here. :)

Mountain Dew was originally released in the UK in 1996, then removed in 1998 due to low sales. It is still available in the UK through certain specialist outlets.

Damn those 1990's slow sales...

:goodvibes

Specialist Outlets? I need to google it, my dad would actually love me if I got him some, he might even give me my brother's share of the inheritance. :rotfl:

Yes, apologies that went OT, Mountain Dew is a bit of a distraction. ;)

I don't think that the majority of posters in favour of WDW, 'hate' DLP, but the original question asked why people would forego Paris inorder to go to the States, so the natural progression of discussion will obviously be favourable to WDW.

:goodvibesIve had stuff from american soda, good service, now I just go to usa twice a year for my suplies:goodvibes

This might be a stupid question, but we have never taken soda home, for fear that it may explode in the case, how do you transport it? :)

I DO simply just put it in my case.

Along with a load of Ghiradelli and Combos :)

And anyway all the aunt bessies waffle mix would soak it up:lmao:

I must be incredibly bad at finding the good deals for WDW, because the cost of a DLP holiday would only cover about a quarter of the cost of my WDW trip!!

Hence towards... ;)

Sometimes people on here complain about friends and/or family bagging out the fact that they like to go to Disney (usually WDW) for their holidays. I think we have probably all experienced how annoying that can be, and would rather not have our choice of holiday belittled. Funnily enough, the same goes for those of us who also like to spend some of our time and money visiting DLP.

I love them both!

I love them both too i thought DLP was fantastic but i can't justify the cost for it at the moment. :thumbsup2

I am not trying to be "cheeky" but why would anyone so close to Disneyland Paris want to come to WDW in Florida? DP is sooo beautiful...

I guess this is a question that is asked to many west coast Americans ~ why would anyone living close to Disneyland in Anaheim choose to go to WDW?

It's certainly not the cost for us ~ I worked it out once and we had 3 holidays in the one year to DLP (14 nights in total) that cost less per day as our one 14 night holiday to WDW.

IMO it's like comparing apples to pears ~ just can't be done. Disneyland Paris is very, very beautiful and I defy anyone who is a true fan of Imagineering to deny otherwise, however WDW has so much more to offer, plus there is so much more than Disney there. I love them both dearly and look forward to many more holidays at both. We are currently saving to go to Anaheim to see the original Disneyland, and hope to also get to Tokyo and Hong Kong one day.

honeydiane ~ I hope you do get to visit DLP one day. :wizard:

I've just stayed for 3 nights, full board, at the Disneyland Hotel for around the same price (probably less, actually) as just the flights to Florida. But then I would still have to find the money for the 14+ nights accomodation, the park tickets and, of course, the food for the four of us, if I want to go on that WDW trip. So there would be quite a bit more saving to go!

My thoughts precisely! Last summer we did 4 days at Disneyland Paris in Hotel Cheyenne including passes for less than £50 per person per day. With flights less then £50 pp with Easyjet it wasn't at all expensive. No way could we do WDW for that .... and with flights at least £500 pp we are spending at least £2000 before we even get there.

That said I adore Florida and WDW and wish I could afford to go there more often, but I love Disneyland Paris just as much and it's a much more affordable and accessible Disney fix.

For us, it does work out better value to go to WDW and as a child I was happy to go to either but my dad refused to spend as much money on DLP when he felt we would benefit from a holiday in Florida more.

I love Paris as a destination for a short break but Florida is our preference for a holiday and I do prefer WDW to DLP and the US to France. We never stay on site but get nicer accommodation for the same money in Florida than Paris. Been to France alot, and have to say no matter how much we have paid we have never been happy with the accommodation. Also our trips to Florida and Paris are both not just about Disney for us as much as we love it. So Florida (and its lovely weather, and better value for money) wins overall for us.

However, if we drive to France using our massive camper van we can get MUCH more disney souvenirs in and don't have to worry about our suitcases being too heavy!
