Don't forget to pack ____

This idea of having to bring a backpack charger for your phone is mind numbing. I get 24-28 hours of heavy use out of my blackberry Z30 I am talking 5" touchscreen heavy surfing 300+ TXT messages and 400+ BBM messages plus e mail etc a day.

What are everyone's thoughts on carrying cases in the parks? We won't have a stroller. Fanny packs for everyone, one backpack that an adult carries, or something else?

We have 1 small bag:

LOADS of pockets. Looks small, but will hold a lot. I like it because it's waterproof and can put phone in there on wet rides. It is amazing what it will hold. Try as I may, we always have to have some sort of something: tylenol, meds, whatever and this works excellently for us. I've rolled up a princess dress and squeezed it in there after Akershus! LOL There are 3 sizes. I got mine at AAA.

There are just too many people, and too many germs in WDW. Like a PP said, I have no idea who occupied the room before me, or how well housekeeping really cleaned it. For all I know, the person before me was one of the "my whole family got the pukes during our vacation".

Do I sanitize my whole life? No. Do I try to sanitize everything at WDW? You betcha!

Add me to the "I Clorox wipe the hotel room" group. I think about the mousekeeper who just scrubbed 20 toilets and showers in the previous rooms they just finished cleaning, then heads into my room. They certainly don't wash their hands or rubber gloves (if worn) after each room. They come in and clean your room with those same gloves, touching your tv remote, door handles, etc. I'll stick to the Clorox wipes. :rolleyes1

Same here!!!

As a non-American, this need to "sanitise" everything is one of the strangest cultural things about America.

Alcohol based sanitisers are not effective against norovirus (which causes most stomach bugs) http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/...-norovirus-spread/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

The need to "disinfect" everything is making it hard for hospitals to sterilise operating theatres effectively (which leads to people getting infections that can't be treated). It's increasing antibiotic resistant diseases. And soap and water works better. http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Antibacterial_cleaning_products

And being too clean probably promotes allergies, asthma and maybe even immune system dysfunction in your kids. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hygiene_hypothesis

I just don't get it.

I am totally with you on this. My mom was a nurse practitioner and always said "nothing beats plain old soap and water". I don't even own a can of Lysol or use sanitizer. Immune systems work best with a little workout now and then. That said, I don't want to test my immune system as much during my expensive vacation. Some things like cash, remotes, door knobs etc. can have very fresh germs and sick people don't normally cancel their equally expensive vacations. So a little Clorox wipe can't hurt for the hotel room. I think if you constantly sanitize though, your poor immune system goes :confused3 the next time you get exposed to something. It is also irresponsible to give germs such a workout, which makes them stronger. This is not good for those with compromised immune systems....Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox before I get started on antibiotics too.:teacher:

My favorite thing to pack...or actually it is for packing is an android app called packing list with a green suitcase icon. The lite version is free I think but I paid a nominal fee for the full version. I am customizing my list on my phone as we speak. It has a master list you can customize and you can add or delete as needed. For those of you that fly, it will also calculate your luggage weight as you go if you like. You can indicate which bag it is in if you are that detailed a planner. As you pack, you can check off each item as well.

Do you Clorox-wipe dollar bills and change when you get change for buying something? Money has more germs on it than door handles.

I use antibacterial wipes after touching money...every single time. Money is disgustingly dirty. Yuck!!

Which size do you have? And do you hold it like a shoulder purse or cross body?

I consider my pre order from Costco or Walmart as pre-packing... I order a case of water and kid drinks to be sent to my hotel a few days before we leave.. I think it cost me $8.50 for a case of water the last time we went to Disney, sent from Costco... we stick them in the freezer/fridge and take them to the parks with us.. $8.50 would only get me 3 bottles at park prices..

Pyrex all in one sheets if you plan on doing laundry. One flat sheet has detergent and fabric softener. I throw a few into a ziplock and throw them in my suitcase. No worries about powder or liquid leaking

I just looked these up to see what they were.. they seem to have been discontinued.

Your change of clothing bag in your park bag! We had spare clothes for the kids every day...except the day we needed it. That was a $50 mistake, and now my daughter has a fancy pair of Minnie shorts and more expensive underclothes than I do! ;-)

And I barely get a full day with average usage. It's a must for us but I have a small one!

a tiny desk fan approx 7"....it's so hot when the a/c goes down after you leave the room. We have one on each end table.

We also put some of each persons clothes in each bag. If they get lost, you have some to hold you over. I'm plus size and it is hard to find clothes. I started this when I cruised because islands are hard to shop.

waterproof camera. no worries.

extra photo cards. Replace every other day. If your camera goes lost, you do not loose all your pics. Or upload to your ipad daily (that is my new way)

Silly question, how do you have stuff mailed from the internet to your room ahead of time? What if it arrives on Tuesday and I don't get there until Thursday, do they just randomly look in the computer to see if you will be a guest and hold it for you?
