Ok, where were we? Duh! At Hollywood Studios!!!
At long last we were REALLY HERE! At our first park! Admittedly, it felt odd to not be going to Magic Kingdom, but it was well worth it to spend some time with Lori this evening.
Heading into the park was pretty easy, since it was mid-day there weren’t a lot of people trying to go in all at once, so soon we were entering the park and the VERY first thing we HAD to do was stop for a photo in front of the hat!
If you recall, we got ZERO photos here from last trip, and this needed to be remedied immediately!
This is also a good time to mention we were visiting DHS on a very special day! Dapper Day! If you’re not familiar, Dapper Day is an unofficial event in the parks where people dress in their finest, and it was SO COOL! It made for a very crowded park, but really all the dapper people were mainly just walking around taking photos, not really riding things, so it wasn’t so bad. I did a horrible job in catching the Dapperness on camera, but here are some bad shots I tried to snag, and be sure to look in the background of photos for Dapper people too! PS- I so tried to find Kaela (kaelalala) , Sarah (fancifull) and Ana (snowweisz), whose PTR I followed, but I never did!
Next up was heading down Sunset Blvd to our first fast pass of the trip! It was from 1:05-2:05pm, and we weren’t easing ourselves into the rides either, we were pulling out the big guns and going straight for my favorite ride!
But, first, more photos!
And Olivia got to do our first magic shots of the trip! You'll recognize that first one from my intro!
Okay, now onto the Tower of Terror!!!
So here’s the deal on this, Olivia could have ridden this last year, but I was nervous to let her do it, this year we had talked about it for months and she’d seen ride videos and everything and said she wanted to do it! So I figured she was fully informed now and I would go off what she chose, now once she saw the Tower again, in person, she was definitely a little squeamish, but she seemed to be more nervous about the “haunted” aspect of it, more than the ride part. So off her and I went!!
I held her hand through the video part, and could tell she was growing more and more nervous, and I ended up having to give her a little pep talk while we waited to board an elevator, but all in all, she was immensely brave, and soon enough we were on!!
Poor kid, what neither of us saw coming was the ride sequence we would get…lol, now we all know that it is randomized, and every ride is different, well, just our luck, this was by far the SCARIEST sequence I had ever gotten! We straight up got four FULL drops! None of the little bouncy, short ones, four FULL up and down drops! I had to cling to the seat because the free fall was so long that I was shaking a little!! Poor Olivia!! Bahahahhaha, she clung to me with everything she had…
And here is the link for the Tower of Terror video!
Too funny!! As soon as we got off I asked her if she would ride again with her dad and her initial response was “ummm….no.” A few minutes later I guess the fear wore off more and she changed it to “well maybe I will ride it again, but later, not right now.” Spoiler alert: By the end of the trip she was asking to go on again.
While we were riding ToT, Chris and Maddie did a little exploring, I have these photos as proof of what they did, lol..
We did grab a ride swap ticket at ToT, but our plan was to save it for after dinner so Lori and I could ride. Chris had a FP too, but decided he didn’t want to ride right now, so off we went to our next FP for TSMM!
Chris and Olivia rode together on this one, and I took Maddie. Last trip Maddie sat in our laps for TSMM, so this was kind of new for her, getting her own gun and such. She loved it! She had fun and even managed to get a score of 500! Only problem is when the ride starts to move you to the next game it goes quick, and jerks you a bit, and Maddie does not have the head control the rest of us do, so I ended up having to quickly throw my hand behind her head every time the vehicle would move to keep her from banging her head! It wasn’t too hard to handle, but still, I can say I think my score would have been a little better if I was with Liv, lol…
After our spin on Toy Story we had some time to kill before the 3:30 Character-Palooza so we decided to go check out the Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream exhibit.
Coming up, we explore OMD and the rain comes!
