Don't expect purchases to be delivered to room!

Just wanted to let you all know that purchases in the parks are not delivered to your resort room anymore. The cashiers told me that they would send the things to my room and I waited in vain for several days for them to arrive. Finally, I asked at the front desk of my resort and was told that they now go to the resort's gift shop to be picked up there. :umbrella:
 
They have been doing that for several years now. However, you should have received a phone message from your resort's gift shop telling you that your pkg had been delivered.
 
For as long as I can remember it has always been that way. disneyag is correct though, you should have received a phone call from the gift shop telling you that your package was delivered and ready for pickup. Then you just go down with the receipt you are given at purchase, get your items and sign off in a pickup book.
 
They stopped delivering to the rooms years ago. I am not sure why though. It was SO convient. I guess there was a liabilty/saftey issue...I am not sure.

But when our packages are delivered to the gift shop, we always got a message.

On a side note, when they used to deliver to the room, we never had a problem. Since they started the gift ship delivery, they have lost at least one of our deliveries on EVERY trip!
 

Yes, I think 2000 was the last year they did this.

I know when we stayed at OKW we didn't have a car and never stopped at the GS on the way home so we had some packages there for 5 days. They weren't happy with us. ;) They kept calling and begging us to pick them up (we where there for 10 days total so we wern't in a hurry.)
 
I could be wrong on this but I know at least in the summer of 2003 and 2004 we had items delivered to our room, but I believe it was because we were staying concierge level. My understanding is this is still the case - hopefully someone can confirm this

I think so. I know Dec 2001 we were staying at Poly and we had to go to the gift shop to pick up packages then. I remember asking a CM about where to take DD to a Doc when I went to get a package. (she had an allergic recation to peniclin and the CM at poly were very helpful in directing us to centra care.)
 
The concierge folks get their packages delivered to their rooms (had it delivered when we were at BC concierge earlier this month). Everyone else has to pick them up in the gift shops. Never really had a problem with a lost package, but it always seems to take FOREVER for the CM to go in the back and find the right packages. I wish they had a better system to picking up the packages, but still its better than having to carry everything around the park all day long

I was chatting with the CMs at OKW a few weeks ago as we were waiting for our packages. They showed me how overflowing and stuffed the small area is where they hold packages, and told me that they no longer have letters to indicate last name on the shelves. This means that they must read the green tag on every package and find the name.

I really felt for them, as it was before the holidays and I am sure that many (like me) did some extra shopping at that time.

I suspect that is also why they prefer you to pick up your package in a timely fashion - to make more room and make it easier to find packages in general.

That seems odd, we made several purchases, and our packages were waiting in our room the very next day.

Were you staying at concierge level? If not, how long ago did this happen?
