Don't eat that! Let me take a picture first! 7 nights on the basic DDP. Complete 5/5

YUMMY!! Tonga Toast! Glad you were able to get it.

The Pirates cruise for the kids looks so cute.

OMG! Your Tonga Toast pics have me drooling! If we can't get breakfast ressies at Kona, I'm going to have to go to Captain Cooks!
Don't miss it! It was really good. :goodvibes

I'm in! This has been great so far!!! Thanks for sharing! BTW...I am having an affair with School Bread too!:lovestruc We went back for it 4 times during our last trip out!
I will never make another visit without it. :goodvibes I wish they shipped. :upsidedow

Aren't the Mickey ear bandanas cute? The other cruises only gave them pirate ones. These were by far my favorite. :goodvibes

This was our best day of the whole vacation. :cloud9: We had a great time at the GF pirate cruise, breakfast at the Poly, then a trip back to the POFQ where we rented a pontoon boat and went for a ride up the Sassagoula River. :cloud9: It was a fantastic day!

We had an early dinner planned at Tusker House, so we took a bus over to Animal Kingdom. Just as we pulled up to the bus stop it started pouring rain!!! Well, we had to make our ADR, so we suited-up with our ponchos and swam against the stream of people leaving. By the time we got to Tusker House the rain had stopped, but the park had cleared out pretty good. :goodvibes

We checked in at the podium outside the restaurant and waited about 5 minutes before we were called.

TUSKER HOUSE

This was our first time eating here since they switched from a CS. This was the one new place we added to our ADRs this year, and our expectations were not very high. The menu just sounded OK to us.

Boy, were we surprised!!!!! This place was FANTASTIC! :lovestruc It was our favorite of the week. At one point the boys decided that it would replace Crystal Palace on our must-do list. As our CM was bringing us refills on our beverages the boys told her that she had beat out Pooh. She looked a little puzzled and said she didn't know they were competing. :rotfl: They explained, and she was very happy that we were enjoying our meal so much.

This was the one place where I felt really strange taking pictures, so I don't have many. The food station area is very open, so I guess people noticed me more and I was getting some stares.

Anyway, here are the few I got...

Rotissere Chicken and Samosa

100_3276.jpg

I had never had a samosa before, so I don't have anything to compare them to.... but these were wonderful. Crisp, flaky pastry around a spicy center. I had several.

Isn't this COOL? A make your own PB&J station!

I'm sorry I didn't take more food pictures. This meal was really wonderful. The Seafood Stew with Tamarind BBQ sauce was AMAZING. We all had at least 3 servings of that! It was full of huge shrimp. :cloud9:

Another big hit was the corndog nuggets. DS7 had a whole plate full!

And, not to be outdone.... DS9 had a whole plate full of brownies. (On a side note - the only item he had to aviod due to his cashew allergy was the bakliva.)

This buffet offers something for everyone. I had my fill of hummus and tabbouleh while DH had carved beef top sirloin roast and rotisserie pork loin. The variety of food is perfect.

This is definitely on our must-do list now! Sorry Pooh. :rotfl:

AK had EMH that night, so we closed down the park. :woohoo:

We made our way back to the POFQ where we listened to some lovely live music in the lounge area. We refilled our mugs and enjoyed the night.

We soon decided we were hungry. Since we had only used two CS credits that day for our breakfast, we decided to use the other two for a pizza. :goodvibes

For 2 CS credits you can get a large pizza, 2 drinks, and 2 desserts. :woohoo:

We got half pepperoni and half supreme. (Sorry, we had a few slices before I remembered the picture.)

100_3316.jpg

I'm not big on Disney pizza. We usually like thin crust, NY style, but this was actually pretty good. The crust was thick, but it was loaded with toppings. We really enjoyed it.

We picked up 2 bottled waters for the room (since we had our mugs, we didn't need drinks), and 2 chocolate muffins to go to share for breakfast. This was a really good use of 2 credits. :thumbsup2

100_3317.jpg

We cut the muffins in half and shared them between the four of us for breakfast. Those things are huge!

Yum! I can't wait to have Tonga Toast in Sept!

I remember those muffins being huge when we were there in February. DD and I had fun sharing them...they were very good!

Tusker House is one of our absolute favorites. Glad you took a chance on it!

I am enjoying reading your report. I can't wait to make my adrs for nov. Now , thanks to your report. I am thinking of trying boma and giving cp a second chance.

Man now I'm bummed that I don't have a Tusker house ADR. :sad2: I'm definitely calling and making one tomorrow am.

Wondering if disney delivers pizza to all the moderate resorts or just POFQ? How many people did the pizza serve? Thanks!

Me too. We will definitely be back for more. :goodvibes

Isn't it fun deciding? :goodvibes

I hope you got one! It was really good. :goodvibes

They didn't deliver it. We ordered it in the food court and waited for them to cook it. It was HUGE. There were 8 really big slices. We all four had some, DS7 had some cold for breakfast, DH had some for a midnight snack, and we still had to throw a couple of slices away. :guilty:

Dang, you take delicious pictures.
:woohoo: Thanks! I'm making myself hungry too. :upsidedow

We slept in longer than we wanted to after our late night, so we were a little late getting to DHS. Well, I'm not sure what was going on that day, but the traffic was like I've never seen before. We waited and waited for the bus to get in the parking lot. It was so bad I walked up and asked the bus driver what was going on. He said that as far as he knew nothing, but he'd never had so much trouble getting in before.

Well, the park was a reflection of the parking lot. It was PACKED! We were lucky enough to get fastpasses to Toy Story, so we pulled those and headed back to TOT and RNR. The boys got in line for TOT while I shopped. About 45 minutes later I got a call that they were giving up on the line. It had stopped moving. And we still needed to wait 20 minutes before we could pull FPs for RNR.

So, our morning was FRUSTRATING. We were hungry, so we just decided to eat where we were.

This used to be called Toluca Legs Turkey Co. but they have changed the name to

FAIRFAX FARE

The boys and DH decided on 2 Chili Dogs and a Hot Dog. Each CS hot dog combo. came with a small bag of chips. The boys had milk to drink, DH a bottled water, and I had a large coke.

I had a fairfax salad (chopped romaine, refried pinto beans, pulled pork, roasted corn and sweet peppers, Pico de Gallo and monterey jack).

We all had chocolate fudge cake for dessert.

The hot dogs were typical. Not much you can say about a hot dog. There is a condiment bar with mustard, ketchup and relish. They all said they were good and finished them off.

The star of this meal was by far my salad. I didn't have high expectations, so I was very surprised at how good it was!! The meat was tender and juicy with a deep smokey taste. I'm from the South where we love our barbeque, so I really didn't expect to like this. Well, it passes the NC BBQ test! :thumbsup2 I would even be willing to eat this on a sandwich - IF I had some vinegar based sauce to put on it. Since they don't offer that, I'll stick with the salad. It was so good, I'll definitely be back for another one. It is by far the best CS meal I've had at DHS. :goodvibes

The chocolate fudge cake was very moist with a creamy icing and Mickey sprinkles. Yum!

I would recommend giving this place a try. :thumbsup2

With fastpasses in hand, we decided to catch a boat to Epcot and come back later.

GOOD CHOICE! :thumbsup2 Epcot wasn't nearly as crowded. :goodvibes

And since we were back in WS, I HAD to stop by the FRANCE WINE KIOSK for one of these babies.....

IMG_0453-Copy.jpg

Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush

The biggest MISTAKE I made of the entire trip was walking away from this kiosk before I was able to drink 2 of these! Sadly, I only got one. :sad2:

This drink is FANTASTIC! It was cold, and tart, and strong - but it didn't taste like alcohol at all. This is my new favorite drink in all of the World. :cloud9: It made me forget all about our morning in the crowd at DHS. :goodvibes

Since the kids couldn't have any of my "adult" slushy.... :lmao: (And trust me, they wanted some!)

We made our way over to Japan for some Kaki Gori.

IMG_0458.jpg

This was the first time we tried these, and I have to say that all the hype is TRUE! The consistency of the ice is perfect. It isn't crystalized at all. It is so hard to describe, but it is kind of like snow. These are REALLY good. I think next time I'd leave off the honeydew melon (green) - just because I'm not a big fan of that flavor, but the tangerine and strawberry were great.

You didn't share your slushie?! What kind of mother are you? :sad2:

And before I get flamed: totally kidding!

Note to self - no less than 2 of these:lmao:
