Don't eat that! Let me take a picture first! 7 nights on the basic DDP. Complete 5/5

Are you serious? That is the kid's dessert?? How lame lol!

That kids dessert is crazy, and the fact that it's the only one! :sad2: I would have definately complained to someone in hopes that maybe others would do the same so that they might hopefully at least add a scoop of ice cream as a kids dessert.

Sounds like some very good food and I already have Teppan Edo on our ADR list for Sept! :)

I really should have complained to the manager. He was really nice. That was just bad! Honestly, those fruit cups have to cost more than a small dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream. :confused3

But, don't let that stop you from going there. It is one of our favorites. :goodvibes

Since DS didn't have dessert at Teppan Edo, we had to do a make-up.

He has been learning about Germany in school and was dying to try real apple strudel. So we went to Germany when we left Japan. :goodvibes

SOMMERFEST (Germany)

We used a snack credit to get DS an Apple Strudel with vanilla sauce.

Poor DS! This just wasn't his night. This thing was not good at all! The apples were still crisp, and it was full of white raisins. :scared: It was dry, so we poured the sweet vanilla sauce over it, but it didn't really help. We all had a little taste and threw it away. :sad2:

Another HUGE negative about this place was the OVERWHELMING odor or sauerkraut. It really smelled TERRIBLE in there. :scared:

So, we continued our quest to find a decent dessert for DS.....

This time we stopped in Norway for the famed SCHOOL BREAD. :cloud9:

KRINGLA BAKERI OG CAFE (NORWAY)

:woohoo: Finally, SUCCESS!:woohoo:

We loved the school bread! I can't believe we've never tried this before! (Thank you snack reminder cards!! :lmao:)

The bread reminded me of the yeast rolls you get at Golden Corral. Only filled with a rich cream and topped with toasted coconut.

The only negative was that we only got one! :scared1: DH didn't want any, so we tore it into 3 pieces. It was just enough to let us know we HAD to come back!

After a long day at Typhoon Lagoon and Epcot we were tired but not done yet! We can rest at home!!! :upsidedow

Next up was DTD and Disney Quest! After they ran us out of there when they closed, we walked to the other end of DTD to.....

GOOFY'S CANDY CO.

By this time DS7 was getting really tired. DH didn't want a snack, so he and DS7 decided to go ahead over to the bus and meet us back at the room. DS9 and I waited (a very long time) for our snacks. If we had known how long it would take we would have left too. But, after we got the snacks we decided the wait was worth it. :thumbsup2

Before he left, DS7 placed this order:
Start with: Pretzel Rod
Dipped in: Dark Chocolate
Topped with: Chopped Peanuts, Mini M&M's, White Chocolate Drizzle

IMG_0355.jpg

DS9 ordered:
Start with: Mickey Krispy Rice Treat
Dipped in: White Chocolate
Topped with: Mini M&M's, Crushed Butterfingers, Reese's Pieces, Caramel Drizzle

And I ordered:
Start with: Pretzel Rod
Dipped in: White Chocolate
Topped with: Mini White & Dark Chocolate Chips, Chopped Pecans, Reese's Pieces, Caramel Drizzle

IMG_0354.jpg

I was a little surprised at how they only put one topping on each pretzel. For some reason, I thought they would put everything together. :confused3 They were still FANTASTIC, just different than the picture in my head as I was checking off toppings on the order form.

We loved them all! They were as good as they look. It was fun watching them make them. The CM's at Goofy's are artists! They carefully placed the butterfingers only on the ears of DS9's treat. They made each one very carefully, and they turned out great! :cloud9:

My favorite was the pretzel dipped in white chocolate, topped with chopped pecans, and drizzled with caramel. I think I'll get all three done like that next time. :goodvibes

Don't miss a trip to Goofy's! It is quite the yummy adventure.

We had some when we got back to the POFQ, and the rest for breakfast the next morning! The boys loved telling everyone they met that they had candy for breakfast. :rotfl:

OOOH I have to try some school bread. The coconut looks toasted so I will be able to try it. I can't stand regular coconut. School Bread looks good.

All your treats look good as well!!

It really was good. The coconut is chopped up pretty small, so it isn't overpowering. To me, the best part was the rich cream. :lovestruc

That is what I want to taste, the cream. is it like a custard?

thanks so much for your great reviews......you did good with the photos...I am ready to go on our trip soon....so Port Orleans French Quarter food is on our agenda too........thanks for it all

I'm all for those yummy looking pretzels - can you use a snack credit on these? Where is Goofy's candy store?

Did you make your own snack reminder cards or did you find a link here on the Dis?

Thanks!

Thanks! It felt really strange taking pictures of food. :upsidedow

Yes! 3 pretzel rods were 1 snack credit and the Mickey rice krispy was 1 also. :goodvibes
Goofy's is in Downtown Disney on the opposite end from Pleasure Island and Disney Quest. It is very close to the first bus stop and the Christmas store.

Did you make your own snack reminder cards or did you find a link here on the Dis?

Thanks!
I made them myself. There is a great thread on the DDP board listing confirmed snacks. I used colored index cards. I made one for each park and listed all the snacks from that list that I thought we might like to try. They were REALLY helpful. :goodvibes

This was the day our boys went on the Pirate Cruise from the Grand Floridian. We started with a candy breakfast, then took a cab over to the GF. We didn't want to risk taking a bus and get there late. As a result, we got there really early. We used the time to walk around the beautiful resort.

Once all the kids were there they boarded their pirate ship and sailed away leaving their poor parents without children for 2 hours! :lmao:

They had a lunch of an uncrustable pb&j, goldfish crackers, a rice krispy treat, and an apple juice box. Since parents aren't allowed to tag along, I don't have any pictures but these:

As usual, the boys had a great time!

This was their 3rd pirate cruise, so I asked them to rank them. They said that they loved them all, but if they had to pick it would go like this:
1. POR Cruise
2. CBR Cruise
3. GF Cruise

After the kids left, we made a big mistake! I had my heart set on going to the Poly to have some tonga toast at Capt. Cooks. We had no idea we could walk over there, so we went out to the monorail. We waited, and waited, and waited..... FINALLY we saw one approaching. But, sadly, it was going off duty. So we waited some more..... Eventually we got a train, but then we stopped on the tracks several times waiting for other trains to pass. :sad2:

CAPTAIN COOKS

We walked into Captain Cooks at exactly 10:30 am. Just in time to see the menu boards switch to LUNCH.

I wanted to cry!!! It took us almost an hour to get there. We only had one hour left. AND I wasn't going to get my tonga tost.

I walked up to the counter where they were still delivering breakfast to people prepared to BEG. There was another lady that beat me to it. She asked if she could still get 3 tonga toasts, and the CM said YES!!! :woohoo: So I quickly asked if we could get 2 as well. :yay::dance3::cheer2: YES!!!

DH had walked away, so I didn't know if he wanted bacon or sausage. I quickly decided to get one of each and take the one he didn't want.

We got 2 drinks each with the DDP. I had a juice, DH a soda, and we got 2 bottles of water to go. All for 2 CS credits. :goodvibes

This was definitely worth the trouble. :cloud9: The outside had a slight cinnamon sugar crunch, and the inside was full of bananas and soft bread. I thought is would be overly sweet and expected not to use any syrup. Well it wasn't, it was sweet enough to eat alone - but the syrup made it even better. These were really good! I ended up with the sausage and DH had the bacon. I think either choice would be great. The saltiness of the meat worked well with the sweet syrup and tonga toast. It was very filling. Those things are HUGE.

When we finished our breakfast, we were smart enough to figure out that we could walk over to the GF in about 5 minutes. We had a nice stroll back to pick up our little pirates. :goodvibes

OMG! Your Tonga Toast pics have me drooling! If we can't get breakfast ressies at Kona, I'm going to have to go to Captain Cooks!

I'm in! This has been great so far!!! Thanks for sharing! BTW...I am having an affair with School Bread too!:lovestruc We went back for it 4 times during our last trip out!
