Don't Eat at Sci-Fi

Maybe I should clarify first........we went at dinner and not at lunch. There were no cheeseburgers on the dinner menu. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and I had the steak. There were only 5 entrees to choose from. My 7 year old had the hot dog from the kids menu and said something about how the hot dot had a strange taste and a bad smell. Ok, the milkshakes were pretty good. Our waiter told us since we were on the DDP we could order them for our drink. THank goodness we did or we would have left hungry.

I'll stick up for the OP also. we ate there and didn't like it at all. Our food was lousy and the service was fair at best. I had a Reubon and the corned beef was sliced very thick and tough. They messed my DH's sandwich up and took forever correcting it and it was still wrong but he ate it anyway because we didn't want to waste anymore time. The atmosphere was OK for one time but we won't be going back.

I'm sorry you had a bad exp =( We had a TERRIBLE exp at LeCellier and won't return to the place while others rave about it. Unfortunately, consistency and Disney dining don't belong in the same sentence.

We dined there for dinner about a year ago. Had a fabulous meal foodwise. And I do believe you can order burgers there for dinner, though they are not on the menu. Course you'd have to know to ask to get one.

I still don't think it's fair to tell people to not eat someplace just because the meals you ordered were not tasty. Maybe give a review on the dining review board because that is helpful but understand that there are lovers and haters of every single Disney restaurant because everyones tastes are different, expectations are different, and quality is never consistent.

It's been two almost two years since our trip there but we all thought it was great!! No complaints out of 15 people, so that was awesome. A lot of us got the milk shake as our non-alcoholic beverage plus appetizer, entree and dessert! We are going back in November!!!!!!!:cool1: :thumbsup2  :yay:

I just made an ADR for our December trip for dinner. I am sure it it like any of the other post made on the restaurants here, some like it and think it's great, others hate it and won't go back. I'm going to try it for myself and make my own opinion!!

This is exactly what I was going to say. For example, I don't particularly like Le Cellier (she said as she was donning her flame-retardant suit), but I know I am in the minority and would never tell anyone not to eat there.

I haven't eaten there in a long time, but I still think about that yummy kahlua milkshake! We are planning on eating there during our November trip.

I've never eaten there. The one time we went(pere DDP days), the door was locked at noon. So we salked over younder to 50's PTC and I've never looked back. It is THE BEST. So everyone, go to Sci-Fi so I can get in at PTC.:thumbsup2

We were there on the same day. We can now say we did the Sci-Fi. I think we will be heading back the 50's cafe. Service was great. Food was average. Wife and son had to sit in one seat, while I had to sit in back. Loved the old clips. Did not hate the experience, was just not knocked off my feet. That is what makes disney great. Something for everyone. Just have to find what is yours.

This is one of my favorite places in WDW! The food is ok/good, but I love the atmosphere!

I agree, Renee! I just don't get the Le Cellier FEVER on the boards- but I am just not a big "steakhouse" lover. I wouldn't ever steer anyone away from going there, though- it's not my idea of an exciting meal, but many others love it. Who am I to dictate to them?

We liked Sci Fi very much, BTW. DD and I shared a chicken Caesar salad and a hot fudge sundae- both were quite good. Our waitress was really nice- she was Korean, and wrote DD a long note in Korean in her autograph book. We will be going back this fall!!

Another Sci-Fi fan checking in. I would honestly be just fine with onion rings and a milk shake:goodvibes But the burgers are really good too! Gourmet? Not even close but the atmosphere can't be beat. The service is great and I can't wait to go back:cool1:

I disagree, too. We went in December 2005 and loved it. We have ADR for our Novmeber trip this year. To each his own.

We go at least once a trip but only to lunch and only order cheeseburgers and onion rings. Their cheeseburgers are some of the best I've ever had!!

We will be arriving at Disney on June 30. Sci-Fi is where we will be dining the first night. I hope its worth it. I hear everyone talking about how good the burgers are, but I don't see them on the dinner menu. Can you still get one? Also, we are a family of five 3 adults and 2 childern, are we going to be able to sit in the cars, or will we have to sit at a regular table....Thanks:banana:

My problem may be that I live in Texas, where there's always a steakhouse within spitting distance!:lmao:

You can get the bugers at dinner time. Just need to ask. We just returned from a recent visit where Sci Fi was one of our ADR's. Was it the best food I had all week ? Nope. BUT, the atmosphere can not be beat and we go every time we're down for a visit.

I really enjoyed the food, but the server was very Inattentive. Our server showed up 3 times. 1) to take order, 2) togive/get bill, and 3) to give firt round of drinks. She never asked us for a refill and someone else brought the food.

It think it is a hit or miss. I also loved the atmospher.

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a GOOD burger on Disney property. The fact that the Sci Fi or Beaches and Cream's burgers are describes as the best on property just emphasizes the sorry state of the hamburger at Disney. The counter service burgers (IMO) are Burger King like, and the sit down burgers a step above. (My husband says the burger Le Cellier serves on its lunch menu is 'pretty good' but not worth going out of your way for).

However, we've eaten at the Sci Fi and will eat there again. The food is apparently better on the lunch menu (and yes, you can get a burger for dinner) - but it is by no means great (the milkshakes - particularly if you want a spiked milkshake - are darn good). But the atmophere and theming of the restaurant is among Disney's best.
