it was horrible. This was the only restaurant that we did not like in the week that we were there. I asked to speak to the manager about it. The only thing that we got out of it was a fast pass for Rocking Roller Coaster. So, if you are thinking about it, don't do it. $80.00 for three people was a bit steep for a buffet. We were on the DP, but thats beside the point. HORRIBLE!!!

I'm sorry that you had such a horrible time. We loved our meal at H&V. It was one of our neice's very fav meals. What did you want when you complained? A fast pass sounds like reasonable compensation - if compensation was required at all

Jenny Wren - Sorry you had such a bad experience at H&V but which meal was it - breakfast, lunch or dinner? :confused3

If you dont mind me asking...What was wrong with it? We are planning to eat there and get good seating for Fantasmic! in April. Thanks for any and all information! Sorry your experience was so bad!

First off, they had a large variety of food. The rice was dry. All of the meat was tough. The peel and eat shrimp was fishing tasting, it even smelled bad. The red potatoes were overcooked. The chicken strips that my niece had was full of grissle (sp?). The only good thing on the hot buffet was the mac and cheese. The dessert bar had about 5 different desserts. The strawberry shortcake was soggy. The bananna bread had no flavor, like it didn't even have sugar in it. I even asked if it was sugar-free, and they told me no. The little cheesecake bites with cheeries was the only decent thing on it. When my 6 year old niece wouldn't eat it, knew that it wasn't my imagination. Shes a human garbage disposal. I looked around and people were leaving alot of food on their plates when they left, and they arrived after we did. I asked everyone in my family what they thought when I seen them not eating much, and they said they didn't like it. They wouldn't tell me that before I asked them because I am the one that made the ressies and I think they didn't want to hurt my feelings.

I didn't expect to get alot out of it when I spoke to the manager. But she did ask what was wrong with the food and we told her what I said here. I just think they need to do something else with the food. I would be very upset if I were there dining and didn't have the DP and would have had to pay for that meal out of pocket. It was not worth it at all. But now I know, that when we go back, don't go there for sure.

Le Cellieur was excellent, we had filet mignon. Coral Reef was also a big hit. We also ate at dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, and Crystal Palace for breakfast and loved it. The omelets were delicious there. We really, really liked the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. I would recommend any of the above. But our two favorites were HDDR and Le Cellieur. Try the Apple Rhubarb Crumble at Le Cellieur for dessert. It is topped with homemade maple flavored ice cream. Delicious!!

Just don't go to H&V. :sad2:

Ok, I have heard enough. I am convinced and am calling to cancel my ADR for Hollywood & Vine right now. I only have to figure out where to have my TS for that dinner. Any suggestions?:scratchin

After two times here, you could not pay us to go back. Absolutely horrible service, food and filthy conditions.

I absolutely agree.

We would never ever go back there. We booked a FDP. We were not on the DDP. Ther ewere three families and I made separate ressies but asked if we could be seated close together.

The day we went there was a torrential downpour. When it was evident that it wasn't letting up anytime soon, people walked up and were able to get ressies. It took over an hour for us to be seated and many of the walk ups were seated before us.

The service was atrocious and the food was absolutely disgusting. When we were finally seated it was at 3 tables which were pretty close together - 2 groups of 4 plus my table of 6. In the end, all three tables had gratuity added because we were together even though we had separate ADRs.

The other big problem was the drinks. When we sat down our server was pushing the drinks. She brought out a cup that had a light up tink on it. She insisted it was included. We kept saying we didn't think so but she absolutely insisted that all drinks other than alcoholic were included. all four of our kids ordered them as did the other four in the group. She brought them but only three had the light up thingy. They'd run out. Then my drink. My cousin ordered a mojito. i ordered one also. They came. Mine was gross. She'd brought me the champagne one. It was dreadful and I adore champagne:rolleyes: I pointed out her mistake and she said it's what I'd ordered. I explained that I'd ordered the regular one. Her response was "what's the big deal, they are the same price." Then we got to the food, which was, as stated, basically repulsive. We got our bill and it was nearly $200.

I was absolutely livid. They charged us for our 2 yr old plus my 9 yr old was charged as an adult and the drinks totaled $60. This was for 4 of those kids punches and one champagne mojito. Our server didn't want to hear it. I asked for the manager. We waited another 15 minutes and I finally asked another server for the manager. He came over and I asked to speak to him outside because I was so upset and didn't think the other patrons needed to listen to me while they dine.

He was extremely apologetic but basically playe it like it was not a big deal. Now, we had budgeted our food $$$ and still had 5 days left. My deal with my hubby was no charging anything related to our Disney trip so even though I could have charged it, I had promised I wouldn't and didn't want to go back on that when we were close to the end of our stay. I was actually close to tears. I was very very polite and in the end, he gave us back over $80. It was considerate of him , but it didn't come close to excusing the servers nastiness. She was downright rude from the second we were seated. Grante,d everyone has a bad day, but we were on vacation and are very nice people. Whatever was wrong with her shouldn't have been taken out on us

Okay, so there's my $80 worth of why I'll never go back. Even if all that hadn't happened, the food wasn't any better than the school lunches at my kids' school:rolleyes:

Put me down as a "never go back to H&V" as well. First time, went for breakfast (when it was still Mickey characters) and absolutely loved it. Server was an older woman in 50s diner dress and she was great with kids. Went back following year for dinner on Fantasmic package. Disappearing waiter (younger man), gross food and a display that looked like it was thrown together at the last minute. That was 2007 and that's was it for me.

I've only done the breakfast there, twice, for my twin toddlers. We enjoyed it. But it's hard to ruin breakfast. Dinner might be another story.

I'm in agreement with everyone else! We've done H&V twice for lunch since the Playhouse Disney characters are there. The first time we went, I don't think I even noticed the food since I was so enthralled with my son's reaction to the characters.

When we went last April, it was a different story. To say that the food was subpar for the amount of money we paid would be putting it lightly. My husband was happy for a few minutes since we ate between the changing of lunch and breakfast and he could get morning food. But once that food was gone, he didn't care for the food either.

Someone on here commented on having drinks pushed on them. Well, our server wasn't interested in giving us refills. It was a very hot day--so hot, in fact, my 3 year old son needed more liquid and that's something he never does. Our server kept walking past us. Finally, someone else stopped by because DH was looking flustered. She refilled our drinks twice.

When we got ready to leave, our original non drink getting server opened up the bill, and told DH that tip was not included and he owed her at least the amount of money showed at the bottom of the bill. :scared: That didn't go over well. DH ended up tipping well--to the girl who got us refills.

We won't be back. We'll go next door to Prime Time instead.

I agree COMPLETELY!! This was without a doubt the worst dining experience we've ever had at Disney.:sad2:
The food was cold, horrible and tasted like it was days old. The drains in the bathrooms backed up so they had to close the bathrooms...When I asked how long the bathrooms were going to be closed, I was told I could walk "only a few blocks" to a bathroom down the street! Yeah, like I'm going to walk down by the entrance to use the restroom and have to walk back again.
The service stunk...our waiter showed his face when we sat down and never again...my husband never got a refill on his soda and it took forever to get this guy to cash us out. We were on DP and I didn't feel the need to leave a decent tip after this catastrophe.
SO...Next time, our Fantasmic dining plans will include another restaurant, not this one.

Sorry you had a bad experience...but I really think every restaurant can have good & bad days. When we went in May 2008 had a very good experience. Service was friendly and food was good...everything was fresh, excellent variety...meats were really good. Desserts were wonderful (and there was about 10 choices including an apple-crisp, a bread pudding, key lime tarts, cherry cheesecake bites, several types of cookies, brownies, etc.

I know a fair number of people knock the place on the boards, but there were lots of happy people when we were there. The only complaint/unhappy person we saw was a lady yelling at the outside podium because they would not seat 1/2 her party without the rest of their party (but that's standard procedure at every Disney restaurant.)

Sorry to hear that. But as I am reading some of the threads here, why some likes to eat Hollywood and Vine. Any idea why they love it?

Thanks for sharing this. Have a nice day. :)

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience at H&V. It seems that quite a few people have received terrible service, which is a shame. I ate there in May last year and actually had a very nice meal! However, based on recent comments, I don't think I'll be eating there again any time soon.

I have ate at H&V about 3 times and each time was worse than the time before. I will never go back. The food is really gross.:crazy2: The only redeming thins about the last time we were there was pretty good character interaction with the Playhouse Disney characters.
