Don't Do That!

Kids sitting on the chains or ropes cordoning off lines, especially at bus stops where the ground is asphalt or concrete. I have seen more than one little snowflake sitting, swinging, and falling and smacking their heads on the ground. I have spoken up about this on more than one occasion and gotten dirty looks from parents on more than one occasion.

Drives me NUTS!!

While waiting in line for the Little Mermaid Ride. A woman brought her toddler around the first alcove before you get underneath the overhang to relieve himself. They then proceeded to catch up with their group in line. I couldn't hold my tongue when she walked by and let out "the bomb" "What @#$%ing country are you people from?" While everyone else around ignored her.

When they were building NFL specifically near what would become ETwB (fairly near completion) my DH stood on a boulder to try to take a picture over the wall - I turned around and saw him doing it and yelled at him to 'get down now' I was so embarrassed.

The CM (who I didn't see until after I yelled at him) looked completely shocked that a family member had "caught DH" and yelled at him (I think they were used to people standing on the boulders hoping not to get caught).

I still laugh when I think about my DD (about 10 at the time) sitting on the chains in the Soarin' queu, after you've split into either theater 1 or 2, down the ramp. I told her not to sit on them. Well, she did, not realizing there were only magnets holding them together. She sure was embarrassed when she hit the floor and the chains made a loud clanging noise. She's never done it since then, though. :teeth:

I like this post but I love it even more when the stupid kid falls!

I am constantly threatening my kids with the leashes, but would never, ever. My oldest calls them the "Backpacks of shame".

Ha! We bought one, but never used it. All we had to do was pull it out of the diaper bag for instant compliance.

My contribution: Don't clip your fingernails in public.

After reading some great threads lately, I've really been thinking about my past trips to Disney- both Land and World. My question is to all of you- have you ever watched someone do something in the park that made you think "Stop! Don't do that!"
For example- during our last trip to Disneyland in November, I watched a woman in the Main Street train station walk up to an unmarked door and open it. Inside was a cast member office of sorts, and she immediately slammed it shut, realizing what it was.
Anyone have any stories of witnessing guests((or even yourself)) doing things they should not be doing? Walking into off-limit areas? Opening doors? Trying to reach into ride scenes?
All replies appreciated! :)
I was riding SR on RnRC once when we were held up at the tunnel waiting for launch about 10 minutes - some sort of technical issue I guess. Anyway, the teenage boy next to me tried to wiggle out of his restraints at some point - he eventually gave up - those restraints are very well built - and the ride attendants did warn us when it was really going to launch - but I had visions of him being halfway out when the car took off ...

My DD (5 at the time) and I were waiting in line to meet Tigger and Pooh in Critter County in DLR. The family in front of us were a mom, dad and young boy about 2 years old. The boy was sound asleep in the stroller while we were all in line. When it was their turn, they grabbed him out of the stroller and forcefully woke him up to meet Tigger and Pooh (who they said are his favorite characters). The poor kid was sobbing, exhausted and clearly should have been left to sleep peacefully in his stroller. It made me sad.

People thinking the bench seat next to them is for their garbage. This happened twice to me on our December trip. First we were boarding the tram from the TTC and there was a popcorn box with spilled popcorn all over the seat- how can people just walk away and leave that mess? The second time we were boarding a pretty crowded WDW Railroad. We were split up in different rows and when I went to grab a seat in a row occupied by a man and his couple of children I couldn't sit down because there was orange peel all over the seat. This was one of the last seats available so I said, "Excuse me sir. Is this yours?" He gave me an annoyed type of look and scooped up the peel. Seriously? Did your orange peel pay admission? :furious:

While I agree it's gross, and I am well known to have a potty mouth at times, I hope no little kids heard you say that .... And I'm not sure why you would assume she's from another country. We have plenty of rude people right here....

Kids climbing on the sculptures at Art of Animation Resort. I think to myself, "You're why we can't have nice things."

Kids and adults cutting under the ropes at bus queues when other people are already walking through the queue. I once saw two families nearly come to blows over this.

People stopping in the middle of a row when they have clearly been told to "move allllllllll the way down!"

Do you use the condescending and obnoxious term "snowflakes" when you point out the children's behavior to their parents? That might explain their response.

I have three boys (two with AD/HD) and the railing/chain thing is a constant battle. On our last trip, my 8-year-old fell backwards off a rail and did a complete somersault in the air before somehow, luckily, landing feet first. Couldn't really make eye contact with anyone around us in line after that one.

Yes. One time we rode the monorail our arrival night just looking and adoring the place since it was our first time. We look up and there is a man sitting a few stories up sitting with two children in his lap on the SIDE OF THE RAILING! Oh my gosh. My heart skipped a beat and eventually a cast member told him to get down. He refused but she threatend to call security. He came down and everything was a okay.:worship:

Last year when I visited WDW, on POTC, the woman next to me was texting on her cell phone the entire time. It really ruined the ride for me. And then in the Enchanted Tiki Room, a man sitting in front of me answered his cell phone and carried on a short conversation in the middle of the show. I wish Disney would add no use of cell phones when they announce no use of flash cameras or recording devices. People need to be more considerate of others, even if they aren't there to take in the attraction for their own enjoyment.

I know what you mean. Last November while at wdw, on the POC, another family sat behind us. The mom was on the phone most of the time talking about car insurance! Yep, that all important car insurance conversation that couldn't wait til they were off the POC. Grrrrr. Her 6 or 7 year old son screamed the whole time. I mean nails on the chalkboard screaming and crying. The dad ignored them both. I turned to tell her to get off the #@$$ phone but she had hung up right before the ride ended. She must have seen the look on my usually happy, smiley face:) Her son never did shut up! Ride totally ruined. What were they doing on this ride anyway??? no way anyone enjoyed it! There, rant done:)
