Don't discount the timeshare tours.

I posted this on the hotel board, but figured it would do good here. Also I do not want to be flamed for doing this, if I did not do this, my dd would NEVER be able to experience disney. I know alot of people think it is a waste of time, however for the price, they can waste 2 hours of my time, (actually 4 hours with me having to take 2 tours).

This is from ebay.

My dh and I have done this before. We tour a timeshare (saying nooo of course) and reap the benefit of the cheap stay. I have done it again for our first trip to disney. Now the catch I got on this deal, my choice though, is we are switching in the middle of our stay, 5 nights in one resort, 3 nights in another resort (you don't have to do that to get a deal, but the price to do that was too good to pass up). Of course we have to do two timeshare tours (but again the price, woohooo). The total price I'm staying for these 8 nights, in a one bedroom condo for each resort. $75 that's it!! Now on to the rest of my planning.

Lots of people have suggested doing this before and there have been varying reviews of just how high-pressured the sales tactics can be. For the most part, I couldn't bear wasting precious Disney time in a stuffy sales office repeating the word "NO" until I'm blue in the face. I can't imagine doing it TWICE in the same trip! But if it gets you to Disney and you can tolerate the pressure, kuddos to you!

We will be staying 8 nights because of this deal, and have taken our "breaks" on the days of the tours. I am trying to do this with the least amount of money spent. Otherwise I cannot afford this trip, and to see the look on my dd's face when she sees cinderella and ariel, will be worth a million timeshare tours to me. I am unable to have any other children, so I am trying my best to give her the world.

I understand that some people might not want to waste Disney hours but I'd do it if it meant I could stay longer! For example, if I was only paying $299 for a week at the timeshare vs. $799 for a week at a value I'd be able to stay for 2 weeks... which would be more than worth the few hours. Of course, we dont' often get that kind of vacation time to use, so I don't know if we'll do it anytime soon, but I will definately think of it in the future!

 Hi.
I can't do the timeshare thing because I tend to want to buy into them, but you'll get no flames from me for seeing the world this way. Your quote just made me think of the first time my youngest daughter saw the fireworks. I, honestly, didn't see to much of them because I was so enthralled with watching her watch them. At one point, I looked at my DH and he had been watching her, too. I could swear he had tears in his eyes. Of course, I could be that I just had trouble seeing past the tears in my own.
Have a great time.
:thumbsup2 Eva

Good for you! You're putting your child first and that's great. You are doing what you need to in order to make your child's wish come true and I admire you for it. :)

Good for you!! I just did sort of the same thing -- HAPPY to "waste" 2 hours to get a two-room hotel suite for $50 a night at a WDW resort property. Better yet, we got our only 2-hour break from the kids while they played at the resort's childcare (and they didn't want to leave).

I saved $637 on my hotel bill by doing a 2-hr presentation. Hmmm....so my time was worth $320 per hour. I wonder how many naysayers make $320 per hour?

I think it's great! I have a friend who does this regularly- sometimes it's easier to sacrifice some time to save a lot of$$$

These are some of the few circumstances where going to a TS presentation are worth it. Obviously if you get a fantastic saving on your room, and it can be the decision point between taking the trip or not, you have a bargain.

To get the special "Touch of Magic" tickets usually are not worth it, as they allow only two major park days, one water park, and no hopping and are not upgradeable and if you are staying a week you would have only saved $6 per adult ticket by spending several hours at the tour.

Thanks for such kind words about my decision. I was scared I would be flamed. I chose one of the options for no tickets, the price of the stay was way too good too pass up. So we are buying the tickets seperate. I am buying my dd's for xmas. I am also getting up bright and early on November 30th to book that coveted Cinderella Castle. I also chose to do a condo so we would be able to cook and save money on that, but my dh wants to go to medieval times (don't know why, but it looks cool).

What WDW resort property did you get for $50.00 a night? :confused3

These sound great, but they won't work for us. We love the dining plan and EMH.:cheer2: We can't take advantage of these if we stay off site. :sad2:

No flames here.. I think if you can find another way to get to Disney and its the way that you can afford and without doing it you wouldnt be able to go.. Then go for it..

No flames from me either--good for you. Have a wonderful trip!!!!

I also found where you can tour for tickets, now mind you the tickets are just one day tickets, but they do have sea world and universal too, only for 0.01 cents.

I'll gladly share, of course!

>>> saved only $6. per adult.

Alas that can be very true.

To avoid that problem do not do a timeshare tour to get Disney tickets if you also need to buy more tickets for use during the same vacation (of more than 3 days).

I'm not the OP but if you previewed Westgate resort, they put you at their sister resort on Hotel Blvd. over near DD.... I forget which resort that was though LOL.... But it was through Westgate resorts.....

As for us, we never could find a good enough deal to do a condo deal in Orlando, but we've done two in Hawaii & both times it saved us close to a thousand dollars... I think Hawaii offers the best value Timeshare tours  Course I always want to buy in as well...

Dear Abteer---
Please e-mail me with your 2 ways to get a great room deal. I want to surprise my hubby for our anniversary. Thanks in advance- Marie MsDisney5@aol.com

I am not flaming, just questioning, but does anyone else get the feeling that the op is getting something else out of this deal, which is why she only has 12 posts and most of them are telling people to email her so she can send them a link???
