Recently there was a thread that stated that Jiko seemed to have gone downhill. I am here to say, don't believe the hype...it's still fabulous!

We ate there last Friday 10/1. We had a wonderful server (Stephanie) who was very friendly and attentive. We had the Taste of Africa which was awesome as always. They have added a 4th dip to this appetizer which my husband really enjoyed.

Our entree was the oak grilled fillet with macaroni and cheese which was heavenly as always! We both ordered our steaks medium-rare and they were cooked to perfection!

For dessert Dh had the spice cake which was very tasty and I had the Three Sisters which I also enjoyed.

I was very happy to see that Jiko is still maintaining its high standards and I can't wait to go back again!

We're eating there next week - good to hear. My boyfriend is from South Africa and I was nervous about him liking it (want him to be impressed). I love that filet - think that's what I'll get.

Thanks for the update on this fabulous restaurant.

did you notice if they did take off the shortribs?
I am 90% sure I saw the short ribs on the menu.

What is the Three Sisters that you had for dessert?
The Three Sisters was their no-sugar added dessert. (I got it cause it sounded interesting, not because I have a dietary issue) It was a small biscuit with fresh strawberries, a little chocolate mousse and a madeline with creme Anglaise. While each portion was small, it was very good.

Glad to read that you liked your recent visit to Jiko. We will be dining there again next week. Along with California Grill it has been our favorite place to dine since it opened.

I'm glad that it's still good... I'll be going during my January trip and I'm so excited for it.

I am so glad you posted. we are going during xmas wk. and was a bit worried. I feel better now.

That does sound good...

I was at Jiko on Oct 4. I too was concerned about the recent reports. The food was still fabulous and the additional dip on the Taste of Africa was awesome. However the short ribs were not on the menu and are not expected back anytime soon. I know DH wanted them. They also removed the Pistachio Creme Brulee. If you really want the desert I suggest you ask. They did come out with small sizes. Plus I am hoping if enough people ask they will bring it back.

Thanks

Kris

Thanks for confirming about the short ribs...I was not 100% certain it was on the menu.

While we were there, they were giving out the pistachio creme brulee for celebrations so if you are celebrating something make sure that is noted. :)

I was looking forward to the short ribs. Can anyone recommend a good fish dish there instead? I wasn't too fond of the steak last time. (The short ribs were amazing though.)

We have an ADR there for our upcoming trip (10 more days!) and it will be our first time eating there! So thank you for posting!

We'll be joining you there on Oct 18th for our first time at Jiko also:thumbsup2

They have a very good halibut with veggies....it is also a signature dish....they have changed the fish but not the rest. It used to be monkfish at one point. It is good though. I have also had the curry shrimp. I find it excellent as well. I really have not had anything bad. I would say the halibut would be a slightly lighter meal but both are good.

The shortribs were my favorite dish at Disney and they are gone. I was there 9/27 and asked why and was told they got to expensive :(

But Jiko is still one of our favorite places to eat!!!!

I go with what I have tried. Jiko I want to try next time. Then if it's good, bad or ugly I will report. Now some rest. I have tried and LAWD once was enough. You make a great point.
