Don't attack me!!

It's "Mickey's Not SO Scary Halloween Party".
It's NOT "Mickey's NOT Scary Halloween Party"
The word SO changes the meaning quite a bit. It's still scary, but not SO scary.
:goodvibesGot It?

Wait! I'm fairly, almost, probably certain it's:

"Mickey's Very Merry, Not So Scary Holiday Party"

Got it? :rolleyes1

Scary to 1 child might not be scary to another. Wear whatever you want (within the Disney rules for the party). I'm not sure why you were planning to be attacked.

My wife and I were debating on if it would be wrong for me to dress up for the halloween party and be a little scary looking..What do you all think..

Define "a little scary". What's a little scary to me could be terrifying to someone else. Unless you can be more definitive, I'd say don't be scary.

My kids were afraid of the guys in the parade with the chains, and those sickle things dragging on the ground...its the haunted mansion float....they looked dead, but werent ghosts. I think if its anything worse than that, then its a no from us. Im all for fun and dressing up, but Im paying to go to this event, and its not supposed to be so scary. You could do something creative and be a Disney accountant, with a park hopper price list with increases on it...now thats scary!:scared1::laughing:

The name of the event is "Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party". Scary is very much discouraged and may not even be allowed (depending on degree). Blood and gore definitely not allowed.

Thats what I thought when we went but I saw quite a few scary ones like zombies and standing next to me whilst watching the parade was a guy with a white shirt covered in blood with a knife sticking in his head and blood all down his face :scared1:

Saw him at the end of the night too so he wasn't asked to leave.

God I am getting old..When someone said "naughty nemo" I thought of Captain Nemo ( 20,000 leagues under the sea) and not Finding Nemo...LOL.I was trying to figure out how naughty Capt nemo can be...:rotfl2:
That was not the Nemo that came to my mind, but your post made me laugh out loud.

I do think Capt Nemo is kind of naughty (blowing up boats, etc.).

Nemo doesn't even come to my mind when I see that LOL, I was thinking it looked more like a naughty piece of candy corn.
I agree :lmao:

***sigh*** Why the ambiguity?!? I need more details -- no one is going to flame you. I just want to help.

I couldn't resist googling:

Naughty Nemo Costume
Love the costume! Very sexy ~ but I wouldn't wear it at Disney -- just seems awkward. However, those basic orthopedic shoes paired with the costume are an epic fail -- my grandmother wouldn't wear those shoes. Let's add a little more bite and vamp it up. Hmmm....

As long as it isn't a clown. I am terrified of clowns. That would scare me to bits.

Yeah, that. Nothing scarier than the haunted mansion float. My older kids were 2, 5 and 7 and that part of the parade was scary for them. I wouldn't go scarier than that. It's supposed to be NOT so scary.
Although, I must say...I love the openness and self-interpretation of the Disney rules; "Not offensive to others." What the heck is that supposed to mean? What's offensive to one, is certainly not offensive to another. :confused3

I never dress up, but I do look around at some of the costumes. There aren't a bazillion scary ones, but there are always some.

Plus, anything can be scary if the kid is a scaredy-cat. I've seen 3 year olds scream their heads off when Goofy or Tigger stop by their table. They refuse to go see Santa every year. I had a toddler who was (I kid you not) afraid of grass.

Kids are dumb. They can be afraid of any stupid thing and not afraid of things that are intended to scare. It's always hard to say WHAT will frighten them.

But most kids are fine as long as the thing they're afraid of isn't trying to get too close to them.

Wear what you want.

My wife's best friend brought her daughter over to visit the other day whiel my wife was going through the stored Halloween costumes. My wife put on a clown wig - no makeup or costume, just a curly rainbow hair wig.

That kid was TERRIFIED.

Wear whatever you want, just steer clear of the blood and gore. Kids can be terrified of some crazy stuff, and there's no point in trying to be not scary at all to any kid ever.

I was walking into the Halloween store this weekend behind a family with younger kids...Out of nowhere the kid started SCREAMING.I thought he got hit or hurt himself.Turns out his Mom said he is terrified of ANYTHING related to Halloween...Kids get frightened by different things

It's call Mickey's Not So Scarry Halloween Party for a reason.

Don't you hate it when someone comes in, asks what you think is a valid question asking for honest opinions, and then never returns to the discussion?

I hate that. Would love to know the OP's thoughts, now that there's some discussion going on.

As for me ... scary costumes are fine, as long as you're going for "Halloween scary" in the DISNEY sense. Think Haunted Mansion. Or Skeleton Dance. Or Nightmare Before Christmas. If "a little scary" means a painted skeleton face or a Haunted Mansion-esque zombie, then great. If "a little scary" means prosthetics that make your face a grotesque portrayal of someone badly burned in a fire, then ... no.

The not-so-scary Halloween party is designed to be a non-threatening, kid friendly event. If your "a little scary" costume is non-threatening and kid friendly, then go for it. If you look at it and think, "I'm not sure ...", then maybe re-think.

:earsboy:

Both my kids were terrified when I wore wigs because I didn't look like their Mommy. And no, these were not Halloween wigs. My DS was terrified of anyone with thick glasses. He wouldn't even go to his Nana because she had thick cataract glasses. If she took them off he was fine, but I couldn't ask everyone to take off their thick glasses because he was afraid of them. DD was afraid of beards. I guess I should have told everyone with beards to shave them off so DD wouldn't be scarred for life by them.:lmao:

Again, It is not SO scary, not NOT scary. If you take all the scary out of Halloween, it isn't much fun. I have to laugh when I go to school Halloween Parties, because when we were kids we had witches and other scary stuff. Now it has been dumbed down to coddle the kids (or is it the parents? ) We grew up fine and well adjusted. Halloween is about ghosts, goblins and witches, or at least it was.

And to the people who say they PAY to get into the party & don't want their kids scared, all the other people PAY to get into the party too and should be able to have fun.

Lots of good discussion. I don't think I want to be the one to scare the little kid so my wife and I decided to dress as a couple not sure just what yet. I'll save the SCARY for Universal..
