Well, I am bringing my 4 year old and I'm guessing so are others so if the costume is something that will scare a 4 year old then I would "prefer" you not wear it but as long as you are just wearing it and not acting out the scariness then I don't see a problem with it. Most things can be explained to young children. So a little scary go for it!! 2 hours in makeup to look like your face is falling off maybe tone it down a little.
The name of the event is "Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party". Scary is very much discouraged and may not even be allowed (depending on degree). Blood and gore definitely not allowed.
How scary looking? Dripping gore? There's going to be a lot of children, is it something that would scare the children?
If you're going to be a vampire or something, that works, but going as The Thing bursting out of someone's head...that really only works at Universal and they don't allow costumes at their event at all.
yeah, i would have to 'thumbs down' on the scary. Disney is one of the few places kids can go and just have fun and not have the bejeebers scared out of them.
Go as what you want. You are paying the 65 bucks not anyone else.It is a halloween event after all.As long as you stay within the rules. As far as too scary goes ,they do run a man with no head on a horse right down the middle of the road.Honestly I think that is pretty scary for young kids!
I saw people dressed as zombies when we were there. I also saw a "naughty Nemo" which was probably more inappropriate. As long as it's not over the top, I think you'd be fine.

Us too--that's probably the upper limit on the scary-meter.
Maybe I'm just not imaginative, but I can't even begin to guess what a "naughty Nemo" looks like. And please don't elaborate, as I'll probably see the movie a few more times in my life.
