Done with PRAXIS...Whew!

I finished the PRAXIS and I am pooped! That was rather brutal, I must say! Good golly, I hope I passed! Hope all of the other Praxis-takers had a good experience!

It is a really lovely test you must take for certification in whatever your area of expertise is. For me, it was for Speech-Language Pathology. Nothing like capping off three years of study (part-time mind you!) with comprehensive exams and the PRAXIS! Yeah!!!!

My Praxis exam was for Elementary Education.

Was this the Praxis II? I have to take the Elementary Education test in June. How bad was it? I'm scared about it at this point.

I took the Principles of Learning and Teaching 5-9 test and it kicked my butt. 12 essays (on 4 case studies) and 24 multiple choice in 2 hours. Blech. 8 minutes to go and I still had an essay to write.

I took the PLT K-6 and the Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment exams 3 years ago (when all this crap was fresh in my mind) and they didn't seem too bad then. You'll do fine!

Congrats to everyone else who is done with these lovely tests...4 weeks 'til scores.

Yes, it was the PRAXIS II. I took the Elementary Education: Content Knowledge (Test 0014). The Language Arts, Math and Social Studies were not bad at all. It was the Science section that was my undoing. It's been over 20 years since I've had biology or physics and I could tell that I was very rusty on those subjects when I took the test.

Mine was in French. I barely scraped by! It was gruling. I'm glad that is over! (of course this was 11 years ago, still gives me nightmares!)

I just passed my Praxis II content area (English... did very well, actually), but I still have to take the PPST (Praxis I) and the PLT next fall. I'm really nervous about the PPST because I have a learning disability in math. I've got to do a major refresher over the summer for it.

Ugh, I need to take the school psychology one this summer or sometime soon. I SO dread it!!
