I recently learned here that old towels and blankets could be put to use at animal shelters. Having four kids, we owned a half dozen sleeping bags with broken zippers...
I am in the midst of spring cleaning. Anyone have any other tips for donating things I'd normally toss in the thrash?

If you have things like plane tickets or vouchers, old hot dog buns, or just about anything else you can find a taker on the budget boards.

I try to donate stuff to Goodwill, or SA or even homeless shelters,

Oh yes! I donate all gently used stuff to SA. I was thinking more along the lines of stuff like the sleeping bags, nice condition but no longer able to fulfill its position with a broken zipper (no resell value). It felt nice to give them a purpose other than picnic blankets, I was acquiring quite a collection and about to trash them. I never would have thought about the animal shelter on my own.

:rotfl2: Oh lordy... I'm afraid I'm not brave enough to go there. :scared1: I'm NOT saving codes, upc's, or anything else. We have enough stuff coming and going through this house as it is. I don't know how people stay on top of those things with kids.
