Donalds or Chef Mickeys Character Breakfast

We tried Chef Mickeys last year and loved it. I was thinking of trying the Tusker House breakfast this year. Is one any better than the other - food wise?

I like the food better at Tuskers. The juice is wonderful. I don't remember what it is exactly. I like it better than Chef Mickey's. In fact, I'm not returning to Chef Mickey's this year. It's too noisy and busy for me. I would definitely give Tuskers a shot. They have your normal breakfast fare plus some new stuff to try.

Tusker House is much better. Large selection of the regular breakfast food and some African food.

Donald greets outside for photos. The other characters come around to the table. I think Minnie is the one that is no longer there. Was disappointed last year as it must have been a fairly new change as I didn't hear about it until we were at the restaurant.

Our opinion also - Tusker food is some of the best for breakfast! Waaaay better than Chef Mickey. We always have a great time there.

Love Tusker House....after two awful visits, I will not return to Chef Mickey's (I feel badly that his name is associated with that place!).
The juice that pp was refering to is called jungle juice and will be served when you sit down and refilled throughout your meal.
I always start my main AK day with an 8 am ressie here. I pay the bill early, then I enjoy my breakfast/interaction with the characters, leave just before RD and stroll onto the very first Safari of the day. Perfect way to start my day.
Compare this to Chef M...a bustling mess of noise, dirty food counters filled with warmed over stuff...then you have to get yourself from there to the park....
No contest for me!

Used to love Chef Mickey's....not so much anymore. We used to do it on every trip, it was a tradition. But after several bad experiences, we've called it quits. We love Donald's breakfast at Tusker House. Between that one and Goofy's at BC, we have breakfasts covered.

I found chef mickey to be way too loud in the morning! The food was not great . Tusker house was a much better breakfast, honstly this trip we are skipping the mouse. DHS playhouse disney was sooo much better then chef Mickey.

Another vote for Tusker! I've never been to CM, but after reading all the reviews about it, I'd much rather meet Safari Mickey at a Donald-themed breakfast! The food was so good, the juice was delicious, and the characters were great! It can get a little loud, and they do make the most of the space (read: CLOSE quarters for breakfast) but it's a lot of fun. All the CM's in AK are so nice and welcoming in the morning. Then after breakfast you can go on one of the walking trails to help you digest, lol. Have fun on your trip!!

Another vote for Tusker House - it's one of our favorite character meals. (We've been to Chef Mickey's several times but took it out of our rotation a while ago. ) So we have a strong preference for the food (quality and variety) and the atmosphere at Tusker House. Another advantage: if you get an 8am ADR and arrive a few minutes early, your timing will be perfect for a 9am AK opening!

I'm going to have to give the Tusker House a try... in general we (wife and self) don't like the buffets, because so much of the food is the same from place to place. We had a somewhat negative experience at Chef Mickey's- our niece and nephew loved the character interaction, but the food left a lot to be desired IMO. I remember that my wife got a piece of really, really rare steak and when I went back to ask for a more "well done" piece, they just took the slices she already had and just grilled them more!

Glad to hear all the good reviews for Tusker House. We are having breakfast there on next month's trip. First time for us and I'm excited to try a new place. We had an early ressie there a few years ago but missed it due to staying out late for MVMCP the night before and I've been wanting to get a ressie there ever since. We opted for a later breakfast so we could do one or two rides first....after reading reviews of early breakfast and being on first safari I kind of wish I had done one prior to opening...oh well, live and learn.

Tusker House - definitely better than Chef Mickey. Food is better and so is the atmosphere. If you go early enough it is close to the safari - you could get there before the long lines.

all the previous reviews are completely correct. i'll go a step further and say tuskerhouse may have the best b-fast in wdw. it continues to be our favorite trip after trip. never going down in qaulity or standards. and yes, give the juice a try.
now, again for the kids, we gave chef mickey's yet another chance on this recent october trip. we did not openly confront the server's and management as did other tables (yes, plural) nearby about what is going on here. we did swear we will not be going back for many years. i guess we will have to watch these threads for verification of improvement, because every gripe you read is dead on.
the difficulty w/ which to get a reservation here leaves on doubting that disney will be addressing the multiple problems here any time soon. so go w/ tuskerhouse and keep an eye on these threads for a hopeful future trip that can include chef mickey.
