Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Hi everyone. Haven't had much computer time lately, so this was catch-up day.

Ran a 15km race yesterday on a lovely spring day. The course ran along the ocean and the wind was minimal so it was a happy day. Missed my time goal but made a new PR, so that's a bonus. I underestimated the hills and the distance and would like to try it again next year.

It's good to hear that everyone is either out there walking or running or trying to get healthy enough to get back at it.
Keep strong!

great job and congrats on the PR!

-- also, thanks Dan

did my first 5k at the Bronx Zoo...

I did it in 43 min. Iwas very proud of myself!! I have another 5k in NYC on Saturday... I hope I can do it in about the same time or better!!

Great job, sounds like a fun race!!!!:thumbsup2

Hello Ducks! Hope everyone is doing well.

Liz, good that you have a bike. The sore rear will go away with time, actually less padding is better. At least on a real bike, we want less weight....

Dan, good that you are running again. A bike is a great way to build the kness, and without the pounding of running. My problem is that the cycling muscles out-do the running muscles, so runs hurt more. Which is why I started running in the first place, I guess, to balance the legs out.

Tim, sounds like the cruise was pretty cool. Did you do any parasailing while on Castaway?

Deb, good job on the 5K, and good luck with the upcoming half.

Sally, congrats on the PR

Karen, good job on the 5K,sounds like it was fun. Where is the one in NYC? I did a race in Central Park last September, would like to do it again (and hopefully improve on my times. The shoe transition killed me)

Joe, will look for you on the morning run!

The weather was kind of crappy yesterday, so I skipped my duathlon, and have felt guilty ever since. Still overcast here, I rode in to work, and it looks like I am going to get wet going home.

Have a great week, everyone!

Augie

The sun is coming out! :dance3:
After three gloomy days of rain...YAY!

Got my body fat checked today in our university Bod Pod:
21.3%, 113.6#

Looking forward to reducing some fat in the coming summer months!
I plan on lifting & running today. How about you?

Hope everyone has a Terrific Tuesday!

Carissa, look how far you've come!!! So proud of you!!!

Thanks Deb  You're an inspiration to me with all of your races! :goodvibes

Hello to the rest of the Ducks! I don't even remember the last time I posted on here. I finished the Couch to 5K program a week ago and then didn't run all week. :sad2: But, I just finished a 30 minute run. :thumbsup2 I'm going to start working on my speed for the next few months until my husband returns home and I can start running outside.

Sorry I haven't been posting for a bit! Looks lke all you Duckies are doing a great job of running/walking and working out.
I have been working in the yard quite a bit this last week, planting, etc., which has cut down on the amount of time I can get out for my walks, but I've still been making it to my zumba and kickboxing classes. Love 'em!

Today is beautiful, so I plan to mow, do a 4 miler, then zumba class.

Happy Thursday Ducks!

Well I've finally got my treadmill all set up, it's next to my bike, so I'm all ready to go. I'll be using both here in a little bit this morning.

I decided not to do the 10K I was planning on for May 15th. I won't be ready and I wouldn't want to push myself and increase injury risk. The next race I do won't be until the late summer. There's a 10K in September that I'm shooting for. So I have plenty of time to gradually get back into the swing of things and get ready for it.

I want to be smart with my training and do the best I can to not get injured. Which means forcing myself to take it slow...both with the amount of training I do and how fast I run each workout. Slow and steady is my plan! My long term goal is the WDW Half next January. I want to get there in great shape and ready to go for a 2.5 or so hour finish time.

Hello Ducks! Sorry I have not posted since getting back from Disney.

Liz: I ran from the main lobby of the Kidani Village building out of the AKL gate. From there i went down to the traffic light and took a left (The Bus route to drop off at AK.) and followed that around to the employee parking/bus drop off for AK. Once there I continued to the main gate of the park then back to the resort adding some parking lots in before i got back to the lobby.

As far as the cruise it was AWESOME!!! We had a wonderful time, great crew members, staff, shows, food, and all around entertainment.

They did offer a 5k run on Castaway Cay. This has to be my all time favorite run. It was beautiful, you begin at the ship, run a little over a half mile along the beach on a sidewalk. Then you turn away from the beach and run toward the runway they have on the island. Once you hit the runway you go toward the adult beach area (Great view of the beach and water). You turn around at the end of the runway and head back in the direction you came. About half way up the runway there is a bike trail that we ran around, now this was a very pretty vegetative area with viewing areas along the way of water and wildlife. From here you continue on the same path we followed from the ship. Great run and we received a nice water bottle for doing the run.

They also offered a walking/hiking tour later in the morning.

But overall great time.

Tim that's great you were able to do the Castaway Cay 5K! Sounds like so much fun!!

Yay! I used my bike and treadmill and had a great workout. Nice and easy, but enough. It felt SO good to run again!! Those of you on Facebook will see the picture I posted of the little gym in my bedroom. lol (Hey that reminds me, if anyone else wants to connect on FB send me, or anyone else, a pm.)

Happy day! :sunny:

Hey all,

How's everyone doing? Got in a miserable 3 miles in yesterday and then a really good weight workout at the gym today. Busy, busy weekend planned, but I think the highlight will be the Norfolk Tide baseball game tomorrow.

Lucky you! I plan on taking the boys at some point this year, but I will probably wait until my husband returns. Have fun! I love minor league games. :) Who are they playing?

They are playing the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees. I love minor league games also, plus for $11 a ticket you can't beat the price.

Hmmm...you never notice the little inclines when driving on the road.
Did eight miles yesterday & those little "inclines" seemed like mountains.
This was me yesterday: :snail:

Dan - Have fun today. BEAUTIFUL day for a ballgame.

Liz - LOVE the workout room! Been meaning to ask, how do you find time to run with four boys? I've got ONE DD & it's really a challenge.

Karen - GOOD LUCK with your 5K today!

Stay hydrated everyone...it's gonna be a hot one in Jersey today.
:beach:

Karin - Wow. 8 miles! :worship: I'm not Liz, but I have three boys and homeschool. I get my runs in while they are doing their independent reading. :thumbsup2

Just finished my run. I increased my speed from 4.0 to 4.2. It's amazing what that little increase can do! I was finding that I wasn't sweating as much with my runs anymore so it was time to kick it up a notch anyway. 5.0 here I come! :cool1:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

well, with 30,000 people on the 5k run that took me 20 min. just to get to the starting line.... I ran a lot of it 'in place'. I did do a bit of speedwalking through people.

It was pretty much a bust as far as running goes but it was a great cause!

Putting in 4 miles today.

carissanboys That is exactly when I get my runs in...

Karin looks like we are buying a house in Jersey soon. if you know of any good runs there or places to run, let me know!!

Hello All,

Great weekend. Got 9 miles in this morning for a pretty good run, only 2 weeks left until the Marine Corps historic half, so excited . Spent the day at the beach today and it was perfect weather to be there.

Keep on keeping on :goodvibes

Sounds like many of us are enjoying wonderful weather! I love being able to run/walk outside!

I did a 4.6 mile walk (seems paltry compared to some of you), it felt great...temp was great, very little wind ( a rarity here), and sun...very enjoyable.

Happy Monday to everyone. I have been a bad girl and have been not very active (except with my mouth eating things!! LOL) I am going to suck it up and get myself back into it. I need to start shaping up now especially since I signed up with my charity again to do the Goofy for a 2nd time.

I feel bad that I have been away from my team for so long - maybe it will guilt me into getting out there again soon.

I am excited today because I have a 1 day/night trip planned for WDW next Sunday with my dh and my sister and her girls. Have to use up 1 day on our FL resident dream deal tickets since they expire the end of the month and I have to see Flower and Garden festival this year. I missed it last year :-(

Hope everyone has a Happy Monday and good job getting out there and getting moving - alot better than me!!
