Woo hoo! Deb's back and has a medal to show for all her efforts. Way to go! And you're running another 1/2 next month?

I'm really excited about doing the W&D 1/2 marathon in October. I already signed up for the 5K on Saturday morning because I know I can do 5K pretty easily, I'll be done running it 14 hours before the start of the 1/2 marathon so I'll have plenty of recovery time, and I'm dying to run through the Magic Kingdom (where the 1/2 marathon won't be going).

I'm holding off on signing up for the 1/2 marathon until after I run the Calgary 10K in late May to see how my knees and legs do in real competition again. It's been over a decade since I last competed. My plan is to sign up and do both runs in WDW on 2 October. My other motivation? To meet all the Ducks who'll be running there at the same time!

Glad you had a great time, Deb. It's a super feeling to have that accomplishment behind you. The cool thing is when other major obstacles come up in life, you'll find yourself saying, "Heck! I ran a 1/2 marathon! This isn't as tough as that was. I can do this!".

deb, way to go on your half! i just read your report! awesome!!! it sounds like you kept yourself motivated (as well as motivated those around you). great job!!

Deb: Congrats on the Princess Half marathon and nice job on the blog, reading it has given me extra incentive to train for the Wine & Dine. I look forward to running with you through the parks.

I did the Iwish 5K today, I ran on the track at Bally's and managed it in 31:00. I ran 4 miles on Saturday, the first 3 miles, things were going ok, shins hurt a little, but not a problem. For the 4th mile I thought I would practice chi-running, so I fixed my posture and leaned forward at the ankles and took off. I haven't figured out how to regulate the forward lean, so I was too far. The last mile felt good, no strain on the legs, but I felt like a runaway train.:scared1: I ended up running the last mile a minute faster than the first mile. I wasn't winded, but I was a little over heated. I've decided to take a chi-running seminar on May 1st.
Every one have a good week.:)
Joe

Deb - Just read your blog and watched your videos. What an inspiration! Now I can't wait to get to Florida to run. Thanks for the link and sharing!

Sorry I've been away for a couple of days, but I had to fly out to Oklahoma on Friday. Heading back tomorrow, can't wait to get home.

I completed my IWISH 10K this morning in 1:02 a lot slower than than my run a couple of weeks ago, but it was a hilly and dark trail I ran on here in OKC, plus it was real windy.

Congrats to every one else on doing such a great job on your runs.

Carissa – My plan for today was to run an easy 5K after yesterday’s 10K, but I decided to belly up to the bar and help out my fellow Duck, so I ran 4.2 miles today…an extra 1.1 miles to complete your 5K. So you made it! Call it the Luck of the Duck! Hope you're moving more and faster soon. It'll happen, I promise.

How awesome are you?!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Thank you! :worship:

A HUGE congrats to Deb for completing the half marathon!! :woohoo: :woohoo: I'll have to read all about it later in the week.

Great job ducks on the virtual race! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sorry this is short. It's been a busy few days back and forth to Williamsburg visiting family. We'll be heading there again tomorrow and staying for a few nights. We come home Thursday and then life will get back to normal! :thumbsup2

I've had a nice stuffy nose and congestion for a few days now. Five straight days off running. Tomorrow though, hoping for some nice weather, and will get myself outside unless I'm really feeling worse or something.

That said, later this week I'll be registering for my next race, as I've finally picked one!

Deb, Congratulations on finishing your first half! Wow!!!! What an acccomplishment, one I haven't done yet. I'm so glad you are doing the Food and Wine Half, as that will be my first half.
You are an inspiration!

Hi Triple D's
Welcome to our newest members. I was thinking it is time for a little diversion from our aches and pains and other things on our minds. I know I could use one right now, my shins have been hurting since I ran outside last weekend and I have been really tired lately (I could only manage 18 laps in the pool yesterday for my cross training).
I was thinking this morning since this is a website for Disney fans, I thought I would ask, "What has been your best Walt Disney World day?"
I'll start, it was Christmas day 2006. Everything I read said stay away from the Magic Kingdom, so we went to AK for am EMH. The crowd wasn't too bad and we were able to do everything we wanted. At the Festival of the Lion King we sat at the Elephant section and the King came up to Stephanie (DD 14 at the time) and asked her if she wanted to demonstrate the sound an elephant makes for the crowd and she said no, so he looked at me and I jumped at the chance. If you knew me you would know that I am a pretty quiet and not an out going guy (Debbie was shocked), but Disney takes one out of their shells. So I'm standing up there and all I can think about is the episode from Carol Burnett where Tim Conway was talking about the siamese elephants that were joined by the nose and the only sound they could make was "SNORTKY", I didn't have the nerve to do that so I just made the trumpet sound. I had a huge grin on my face after that and made an awsome show even better. By the afternoon the sky opened up and soaked us, so we went back to our room at POFQ took a nap, had some dinner then decided at 7 to take our chances at the MK. The rain scared everyone away, so the crowd was very lite and the park was open till 3am. We had a great night and managed to stay till 2. The ride back on the bus was full of tired people and kids, but we still managed to sing a couple Christmas carols. Christmas at WDW was a fantastic vacation that everyone should try at least once. I'm already thinking about doing it again already.:santa:

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and hang in their!
Joe

Thanks for the welcome, and that is AWESOME!!! We are hoping to a Christmas trip December 2011. I LOVE LOVE LOVE MK at night. This happened to us year before last and it was amazing at how empty it was. There was times there was no one in sight but cast members. Like you had the entire park to yourselves!

First of all welcome new Ducks, Karin and Leanne! Glad you’ve come aboard.

Thanks for the welcome!

[LeLe- welcome to you! I'll be doing Princess next year, and just got back from doing it this year...what a great event! Such fun!

I already so excited for it, and its a year away, but I think even more exciting is the reward of losing the weight! When I was telling Dh about it and he agreeed if I meet my goals he paused and said you really will do ANYTHING to go to disney won't you lol I about fell in the floor haha He's excited for me too!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!!! It feels like I've always been apart of this board. I'm sure I will be asking trillions of questions along the way, and I hope to get to meet ya'll next March in Disney!!!

So, timmac what race did you choose?

I just signed up for a 15km on April 24th which should be good prep for my May half. Why do I feel so much more balanced when I have a calendar full of races??

I've worked the past 6 days 12.5 hour shifts while fighting a cold so needless to say my day today consisted of sleeping basically all day... hopefully tomarrow I can at least get some house work done, but hoping for the gym as well!

Lele, good to get to know you and Welcome to our fantastic Triple D team.:goodvibes

Hello Ducks! Happy St Patrick's Day! I have not yet done the IWISH yet, but the weather has cleared and I am intending to do it when I get home tonight. I will have to do something to work off the corned beef and beer I plan to have for lunch.......

I took a half day off yesterday and worked with a friend who has a tree business here. He is super busy due to the storm we had this weekend, and it was a good workout. I always look at working with him as being paid to go to the gym.

Have a good day, everyone!

My DH and I were on a 2 week trip - and we just got in Saturday. Was an incredible experience and something I am really glad I did. I was a back of the pack, and that was fine by me...I finished my very first 1/2 marathon. What a feeling
My full report is here if you want to read it (warning, it's long):

I'm slowly catching up on message boards and hope to read back and see what everyone has been up to. It may take me another day or two - to get fully caught up....and thanks for thinking of me.

Loved your race report!!! Thanks for sharing it!! I am looking forward to the princess next year more and more!!!

:sad2: Only four miles completed. Had a really rough night/early morning.
Will do better next time!

Karin, I said it in the other thread, but I'm sorry you had such a rough night!! You did GREAT for your run today! I think I would have blown it off, good for you!!! :goodvibes

Hello all,

Been a busy week, but I managed to get to the gym today for a weight workout, I needed to work off some stress. Hopefully I can get out and do a nice run in the morning. Glad to see everyone is getting out and exercising. My son started soccer tonight and it just adds to my already crammed schedule, but he loves it so I will make room in the schedule.
