Joe ~ if I can finish 26.2, anybody can! You've run plenty of Half's, so a Full is just twice as long... easy peasy!
You'll do fine. Augie too!!
As far as training, I follow Higdon's, but I don't do the Long Runs as per his schedule. I do the longer mid-week runs as scheduled, and then for the LR's, I steadily increase (just like the Half program does) until I reach 16 or 18. That's as far as I go. I told Liz this too - I figured why torture myself any more than necessary?
When I did the full, my furthest LR during training was 16. I figured the race was only 10 more. I can easily do 10 miles, so I know I'll finish. Besides, 7 hours is a long time! But then that was my only goal -- just to finish. If you're looking for sub 5 hour time or something, then disregard everything you just read!
Good luck and happy training!
Oh - I also run indoors during winter but it's at an Olympic training facility for speedskating. The running track goes around the speedskating track. So I still have to bundle up for the 35-40 degrees, but don't worry about snow or ice.
It's pretty neat though! I think it's a good idea if you can run indoors from time to time since you never know what the weather is like in December.
