Hi!

We are going to WDW at the end of June and are thinking of doing the Donalds Breakfastosaurus character breakfast. However, I have heard so-so reviews on this character breakfast. Especially that the characters are rushed through and it gets VERY crowded. We went to Chef Mickey's last time we were at WDW and it was great, so I do not want to end up being disappointed by Donalds Breakfastosaurus.

I was also thinking of doing the character breakfast at Ohana at the Polyenesian resort.

Anyone got any reviews on either?

Thanks!

We did Donald's in June and loved it! We had a late ps (10:10 or something) and felt like we had the place to ourselves. The food was fresh, hot, and plentiful. The characters came around two or three times and posed for pics and signed autographs. I was surprised that we got so much attention from them, as my kids were 12 and 15, but they were great. Our servers were also very attentive. Before we left, they came around with trays of food, trying to get us to take more, and then made sure our drinks were full to take into the park with us.

I know everyone's experiences are different and there are good days and bad at every restaurant, but, all in all, we had a great time and highly recomend this breakfast.

Thanks for the info!

I was thinking of doing the same thing......having a late ps. Maybe eating a small snack in the morning just to get us going, spending some time in Animal Kingdom, and then using the late breakfast as more of a brunch.

Thanks again!

That is what we do.

We love donalds and have near had a problem with the characters being rushed, however that is what happened to us at chef mickeys. I would also say the crowds are larger at CM's too. In fact I don't even remember havign to wait in line at donalds

We've had breakfast at Donald's twice and had a great experience both times. I've read some of the reviews saying that the characters were rushing, but that was not our experience either time. Anyone, and anyplace, can have an off day, but we've been fortunate enough to have only great experiences there. It's a must-do for us every trip now.

We've also done Donald's twice and had a great time both times with early PSs. It's kind of neat to walk through AK before the park opens and everything is quiet. The only crowds we've had were just the ones outside the doors before you get seated, and that's just because for the early PSs the lead large groups from the front gate to the restaurant so everyone gets there at the same time.

It never seemed to me like the characters were rushed. The only minor complaint we had was with our server for one of the breakfasts. He barely spoke to us to explain anything or answer any questsions. We learned more about what was available from other servers working at nearby tables. It also was kind of disappointing because those servers were very entertaining too, playing jokes on the kids, etc. That problem has nothing to do with Donald's per se, as you could get a lame server at any restaurant.

We have never been to Breakfastosaurus, but we'd really like to try it!

Ohana's for breakfast was a ton of fun. We went last September (it was nice and empty). Half the restaurant was empty! We had incredible interaction with Mickey, Chip and Dale. Goofy was quite taken with DD, then 3, and he spent quite a lot of time with her. She was sitting on his lap and everything! He was absolutely great! It was a highlight of our trip. They do parades with maracas around the restaurant. The parade the day we were there was to "Just Can't Wait To Be King" from The Lion King, which was her favorite song then.

It was a great experience and I highly recommend it to everyone!

This is our first morning tradition for the past 3 years. We love it there. Last year we took the last seating due to early entry and we had the place to ourselves. The charaters were wonderful. The cast members were told it was our 3rd time there so they were trying to come up with some "new material". When we returned to our table from the buffet it looked like Tinkerbell had been there, there was Pixie Dust all over the table. My daughters loved it! Donald wouldn't come to our table until we put Pal Mickey away. It was cute. All in all in my opinion, good food, GREAT FUN!
Hopes this helps!

We did Donald's last July. We also had a late PS. It was very crowded, but we still had a fantastic time! I didn't feel the characters were too rushed at all.

I would certainly go back!

I'm a big Chef Mickey's fan. Last trip we decided to try Donald's instead. There was nothing wrong with the service, food, or character interaction. I found the atmosphere at Donald's to be "less fun" than at Chef Mickey's and I didn't really like the dining room/table set-up--it seemed really random. I am glad we tried Donald's, but I still prefer Chef Mickey's.

We have done both of these and we think that Donald's is SO much better. We like to do a 8:10 PS and finish just as the park opens for the day. We have gotten better service and much more character interation at Donald's. There are lot's more food choices and we thought better food. The character are mostly the same so we did CM instead of Donald's this trip and we so disapointed that we missed Donald's.

I'm the minority on this one. We had one of the first seating at Donald's in October (7:50??). Maybe that was the difference. We were hustled into the restaurant and instructed to have our autograph books and cameras ready as the characters would not be able to spend time at the tables. They literally came by, signed the book, and stopped for a picture if we were ready and the kids moved quick enough.

The food in itself was good but we won't be returning. This was our second attempt at this restaurant. We didn't like it the first time but due to the positive reviews we read here, we thought we'd try it again. Two strikes, they are out!

We've done both the early seating (8:10) and the late (10:00) and I would have to recommend the earlier PS time. With our later seating (in June) they were running behind and we didn't even get seated until 10:45. The CM's all seemed rushed and while the food was good, it could have been fresher. We decided to give it another chance with an earlier PS time and had a much more positive experience, fresh CM's, fresh food, and more fun.

We have only done the dinner at Chef Mickey's, but I have to say the character interaction there was much greater than at Donald's.

Hi,
We have done this breakfast at least 4 times, although we skipped it during our last trip two weeks ago-- thankfully. We always have done the first seating-- which I will never do again, because the front is so disorganized at least half of the time. As you can tell by the tone, I am not that fond of this breakfast, but my six year old son loves it-- though, remember, he likes any character meal. The character interaction has always been rushed, with Mickey skipping our table in October (we had to get the manager to get him to stop by-- our son was in tears because of the way Mickey just breezed by our table). We have had one fabulous waitress- joking, organized, etc.-- otherwise, iffy service. We have had the same experience as someone else said-- we were told to have our autograph books to be signed, and the characters stop for a maximum of about 30 seconds. The food, on the other hand, has actually been some of the better that we have had at the breakfast buffets. Even though the character interaction has been minimal compared to other character meals-- of the four times we have eaten here, we have only gotten out in less than an hour once, otherwise, by the time all the characters have come by, it has been at least 1 hour and 15 minutes, usually longer.

That said, I am going to give it another try for the last PS time the next time we go at my son's request.

As for other character breakfasts, on the last trip, we ate at several places for breakfast and found that Cape May had the best character interaction hands down, by far, that we have ever had (except for the 6:30 a.m. seatings at Disneyland)-- it was about 3/4 full and the characters were phenomenal. Also, we had lots and lots of fun interactions at O'Hana's, which, again, was not full. So, if you are looking for character interaction, first and foremost, these two would be my top recommendations.

Donald's is one place that is a must for us. We have ate there twice, both times one of the first seatings. We had good interaction & the food was GREAT!
We plan on going there again for our June trip.

I do have to agree with the above poster though. Cape may character breakfast was OUTSTANDING!!!!
The interaction was out of this World & we did not feel rushed at all. In fact we lingered over coffee & we didn't feel like we were holding up a table (it was only about half full) The place rates an A+ in my book :)

Never been to 'OHana's.

DB: DH and I loved the food. Character interaction was decent, although Donald was nowhere in sight for us. We thought that the character rotation was somewhat lacking, especially after dining at Crystal Palace, where character rotation is excellent.

Ohana's: DH and I loved the character interaction. Food was good, but it was not our favorite.

Perhaps it depends on time of year (we went in Sept), and time of PS (both were very early for us).

We did CM in 98, 00, and 01. In 02 we decided to give Donalds a shot for something different(kids are into dinosaurs). While the food was pretty good(except the breakfast pizza disappointed me), the whole atmosphere was very stressful. We had the first PS of the day and they were running late. Orders were shouted at us starting when our waiter picked us up at the check in area of the park. After being told we could go to the buffet or wait for the characters we were yelled at(by our last name) to get back to our table for the characters. The yelling continued even when our waiter saw us trying to get back through other people taking pictures. In the end we couldnt wait to get out of there and regretted doing Donalds instead of Mickeys. Needless to say in 03 we went back to CM's and we will be again this summer. :D
