Donald and Huey are GONE!

As I mentioned on another thread, I got to see the Magic and the Wonder in port together yesterday. The Wonder looked quite resplendant in a new coat of paint applied while she was in drydock, but her stern was NAKED!

They used to have Donald Duck holding Huey by the tail so Huey could paint the name "Disney Wonder" on the stern. But those figures are gone. (Goofy is still hanging from the stern on the Magic.)

Has this been the case for awhile or did it happen during drydock?

Last year when the Magic came back from drydock, Goofy was AWOL! However before we left port Goofy did return and looked great with his new paint.

If I remember this right, the characters are removed, refurbished at WDW, then reinstalled back in Port Canaveral.

That sounds reasonable. There's an awesome metal and paint shop at WDW where they build and refurbish all kinds of attraction cars and signs and such, and that would be the perfect place to handle a job like freshening Donald and the nephew!

We were on the 9/27 Wonder - have a picture of the stern and NO Donald... hmmmm??

Ah! I was on the 09-19 Wonder for the first time, and I was curios as to why the Magic had Goofy, but the WOnder had nothing. So it Does have something huh! I can confirm that it was not there on the 09-19 sailing!

On the Magic, there is a 30 minute film about the dry dock. They showed them taking Goofy off the ship for his special rehab. I got the impression that Goofy was only off for the two week drydock, but it may have been longer.

When the Magic went into drydock, Goofy was removed at Port Canaveral before the ship was moved to drydock. He was one of the last items replaced at PC when the Magic was returned to PC from drydock. I would assume Donald and Huey just had not been reattached yet.
