Dominican Republic or Mexico?

My sister, her DH, DS11 & DS13 are planning a December vacation. They live in British Columbia and are considering the DR or Mexico.

So far she has looked at the following resorts but is not sure because of reviews she has read. I told her she is going to find positive and negative reviews about any resort:

~ Club Golden at the Bahia Principe San Juan
~ Breezes Puerto Plato Superclub

~ Breezes Punta Cana Resort Spa and Casino by Superclubs

~ Nuevo Vallarta Mexico, The Royal Decameron Complex

Has anyone stayed at any of these, to offer a comment or can recommend a resort in a similar price range to those above?

I have also posted on the Canadian forum and thought I'd ask here too.

LOL, I thought of suggesting WDW but I think they want to spend time at a beach resort.

They went to Disneyland last January, so "been there, done that"......... not like us Disney addicts!

Ive been to the DR and to Mexico
and I would choose Mexico again any time
I went last summer with my ds(he was9)
We stayed at the Palladium resort on the Mayan Riveria.
It was fantastic The resort was beautiful .Sea on one side ,jungle on the other.
As my ds said to me "are we in paridise Mom"
We did a lot of day trips on are own
we saw the ruins at tulum and when to Xel-ha and did the doliphin swim.
We aslo found a small lagoon and went snokling there all day. I know that you live around the area where I am .If you go to a flight center(the one at bloor west village is very good) they can help you,they send a lot of honeymooners there.
I have a really good web site for the mayan riveria I will look it up later and post it on the canidian board.
It is a beautiful resort I cant wait to go there again.

I will only do Mexico or DR if it's a Port of Call on the Magic!

DD keeps bugging me that there has to be other places besides Disney! My reply, Prove It!

Julie, there is always the CBR! It's very tropical and there is a beach but of course you can't swim in the pond but they can head over to Vero Beach or any of the other beaches in FLA!

We went to Punta Cana a year and a half ago. We didn't stay at Breezes, but we went to see it. It looks awesome!
A truly beautiful Resort! We stayed at Sunscape. We truly loved Punta Cana and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Ranatra, I remember when you went to Punta Cana. What did you think of Sunscape? She has read all the reviews about the Breezes Superclub in Punta Cana on Debbies DR website and has some concerns about the Breezes Superclubs from some of the negative comments about rooms, food etc. I will pass along your comments and also your beautiful Punta Cana pictures! Thanks!
