Dolphins in depth

Hi - I looked into this too. If you do a search on the parks forum you will find some great reports on it.

:fish: Has anyone done this. Is it worth it to do?

Hi,

My husband and I did this tour on our most recent trip, Sept 2004. We had a great time and would highly recommend it for anyone. We have our picture with Calvin and it is truely something we will never forget. It is $150 per person but we were able to get a 20% discount with our Disney Visa card but even if we had paid full price we agree that it was money well spent. Please let me know if you have any specific questions that I can try to answer for you.

Thanks Tiffany, If my DH &DD do the dolphins in depth am I allowed to watch and not paticpate? How long is it?

Hi,

Only people who have paid for the tour can go backstage. So, to answer your question directly, no, you would not be able to go with your DH & DD. The entire tour is backstage you do not need park admission. You will meet outside of the front EC entrance by the guest services area. That is how you will enter the park for the tour. You actualy do not enter the park directly you enter into the backstage area behind the Living Seas. It is a 3.5hr tour. They provide showers and lockers so I would recommend packing a bathing suit and a change of clothes. They have seperate locker rooms for men and woman and everything was very clean.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

We did this back in 2001 and loved it! It is so neat to be able to go backstage and learn about the Living Seas and the interaction with the Dolphins is wonderful!

what exactly do you get to do with the dolphins?

I did this tour at the beginning of October and I loved it! The trainers and instructors were great and took the time to answer all of our questions. They told us that the dolphins (Calvin and Rainier) determine the level of involvement in the tour. They said there could be a chance that they won't want to participate ... fortunately, that was not the case for us.

We were taught how to pet the dolphins and various commands to make them do "tricks". My favourite was getting close to them for our photo! You get to crouch by their side while you have your picture is taken :)

It seemed like we were with the dolphins for about 25-30 minutes. The entire tour is about 3 hrs.
