HEAVENLY BEDS!!!!! I am dying to stay there but we're going in Sep for free dining so we have to be on property...

I CAN! We love the Dolphin! We once did a trip for 3 days staying there and NO PARKS! Try doing that with 2 kids...and at Christmas time yet!
O.K. LOCATION!
ability to walk to Epcot or Studios, or boat if you prefer. Star Wars weekends are going on while you are there, and being able to walk back from Studios at that time will be sweet. You can ride the lovely Friendship boats if you choose.
BOARDWALK! We love to grab breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery, and have sandwiches made up to take to the parks with us...we can split the sandwiches and it is a bargain! You can see Illuminations from the bridge and if you are lucky enough you may have an Epcot view and watch them from your room!
COFFEE! 24/7 at the Dolphin...and it is Starbucks!
FRIENDLY! We have always been treated top notch....and have always gotten late check out...onec at 6 p.m. no charge!
GROTTO POOL/BEACH! Huge, clean, great poolside cabana snacks/bar
HEAVENLY BEDS! They are delux double...no contest to the doubles at say...the values. We have stayed at all levels at WDW...we still vote for the Dolphins beds as most comfy...CR and Poly tie for next best.
DRESSER SPACE! The long dresser and tons of drawers...love it, and nice closet space too!
DIGITAL SAFE! I know the deluxes have them, but not sure about the mods/values
I could go on and on...I think you will like it...no, no Mickey wake up calls, and you can't charge to the roo, but you can have your packages sent to park servces and get them there....
CONCIERGE! We have had the best service in getting ADR'S here...we are given a restaurant listing book, to check out the menus, then tell Concierge our choices...very nice.
SPG points! Join Sheratons program and snd stay at any Sheraton to earn points for free nights! You also usually get a 1 room level complimentary upgrade ( if avaiable) by being an SPG member. Our last trip upgraded us to resort view balconey/ for get this...$129 a night! :cool1:
the atmosphere is great...Fantasia mini golf is right across the street...we loved being able to eat at World Showcase...again, the location is FABULOUS!
I could go on and on....if you are plannng on SWW....you are in the right spot!
what is your rate...pm me is you want...
Even my kids love the Dolphin over most WDW resorts...if that helps at all...

Pam

First thing is cheer up! Then do a search for posts by dreamflight99. She is awesome and knows everything about it! It's amazing & beautiful too. There is a giant thread all about the Dolphin! Some of us have loved it for over 15 yrs.

Wow that a great rate. How long ago did you stay there for $129? We are going in August and the cheapest rate we could get was $159 per night.

You will love how centrally located the Dolphin is. Walk to Epcot, little longer walk to DHS or short boat ride. To MK, we just walked through Epcot & took the monorail over. We never used a bus one time during our trip.

Christopher Robin...that 129 was Christmas of '05. We did a split stay WL/Dolphin...I have to say, we preffered the DOLPHIN..( putting flame suit on now)
Good deal on the 159 rate..the best we have ever gotten was $99, and that was Christmas of '03.

When the mods are pricing out at 179 weekday and 189 weekend...the Dolphin is a no brainer, for us anyway.

We chose the Dolphin last year for my 50th b-day because of the teacher rate. This year my DD wanted to go back to the Dolphin over any other Disney property. It's a great location. The beds really are heavenly. The grotto pool is refreshingly enjoyable when compared to the newer pools that are shallow and warm. (On a hot day, the AKL pool feels like you are walking in liquid air!) I truly enjoyed sitting on the balcony, drying my hair in the soft Florida breeze, watching Spaceship Earth change colors while the Friendship boats ferried their last passengers home at night! Ahhhhhhh! But, we got terrific rates for POFQ this summer, so we're off to try a new resort. I can't imagine you not liking the Dolphin!

don't be bummed! it is a very beautiful resort. go and have a good time...

It's a beautiful resort! WE've never stayed there, but have stayed at the Swan many times. If you have it in your heart that it is offsite, then there may be no way to change that perception, but really I consider the twin resorts to be onsite. You can see them from Epcot! You can see Epcot and ToT from the Swan (and probably part of Epcot from certain rooms at the DOlphin, too.)

Do order an adult beverage from the cabana...they have several yummy frozen adult beverages to choose from, if you're into the slushy drinks.

I love the pool area!

If you aren't into the QS at the Dolphin, on the way to Epcot you can eat at the BWK Bakery for a danish. You can eat it outside.

HS has Starring Rolls for a quick breakfast.

we ate dinner at Blue Zoo while we were staying at POP. The Dolphin is beautiful. The fountain in the Loby is beautiful and the grounds are beautiful, expecially at night. I would be excited to stay here. Riding the boat from the Dolphin to Epcot is really nice as well. Very relaxing. You are so close to the Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach Club as well so there is alot to do close by. I think you will have a great time there.

Please do not be bummed. The S/D resort complex is outstanding. What Disney owned resort where you hoping to stay at that you could not get a room at? What do you think they will have that the S/D does not?

I was just hoping to be able to get the dining plan to help with our expenses. I think that the Dolphin is very nice, I just wanted to be somewhere on site for the dining reason.

Thanks,

Well that is a negative. Since the DDP does not really meet our needs it is not something that we consider a negative but I could see how it can be viewed as one along with no DME service.

I am sure you will have a great time as the location is outstanding and our experiance with service is that the Swan has been surpassing the Disney owned resorts over the last few years.

I've never stayed at the Dolphin, have always stayed on site, BUT…I would LOVE to stay at the Dolphin! I think you're lucky. It looks so beautiful. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip.

We have stayed at almost every Dis resort, and for the $, D/S is far and away the best value available right now.
It's close, convenient, has lots of great restaurants.
My guess is, you will love it and want to go back!:cloud9:
