Has anyone done the Dolphin Tour at Epcot? What are your thoughts? Is it worth the money?

I feel so all alone. No one will answer me.....

My husband and I did Dolphins in Depths last year....we LOVED it!! It's a 3 hour tour. We learned about their what they do as far as training goes, conservation, dolphin anatomy, etc. We also got to watch a training session. We spent about 20-30 minutes in the water with the two dolphins. You get to take a photo with the dolphins...either on your own or with whoever you came with. At the end, you receive the photo, a tshirt that has the DID logo and says "Disney's Dolphins in Depth" and a booklet that talks about conservation.

The tour is $150 and I personally felt it was absolutely worth it. The Birnbaum's Guide to WDW has a 15% off coupon that's good for up to 4 people. All the proceeds of the tour goes to conservation...which makes it worth it even more.

My daughter felt it was well worth it. It is not like a dolphin swim in DC. It is educational. But if you are going soon...you need to know...LIVING SEAS PAVILION IS CLOSING FOR rehab. So you will want to check that first.

Thank you all for your responses. We are not going until next July so I think we will be ok with the rehab. I know I am going to do it with DSD(2) will try to talk DSD(1), the dolphin lover to join us. We can do this while DH, SonIL and DS go on a fishing excursion. :fish:

I booked some time ago to do the tour in October. When details of the Living Sea Rehab appeared I did check back with Disney and they said the tours, including the Diving Tours, were still going ahead but there was obviously no general public admission to the pavilion.

If anyone has heard differently, please let me know.

Cheers

Even though Living Seas is closed, they are still doing the tours.

:earsboy: Hi!

What is the minimum age to participate in Dolphins in Depth? I've heard 13, but I read on Allears that it was 16?

Thanks,
Teresa

Another excellent tour is the seas aqua tour. Its similar to the dolphins tour in that its educational. But, at the end instead of spending time with the dolphins, You are given a mask ,fins, flotation vest and a mini scuba tank (no scuba experience required!) and swim on the top of the aquarium. You cant dive down but you can look down and see all the fish and even the guests looking through the glass windows. If your lucky, a school of fish will swim right by you. The actual swim time is about thirty minutes. I think the cost was $110.
