Here's the deal.

I have reservations at the Dolphin (teachers rate). I now can get a room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a little less $.

I was thinking of spending 3 days at Dolphin(since I am not able to stay at Animal Kingdom those days) and then stay 3 days at Animal Kingdom.

We will be there for New Years. Should I make the switch and enjoy both resorts or just stay at the Dolphin.

What would you do??

Traveling with 5 year old twins and Grandparents.

Many people split time between different resorts and really enjoy it, but only you know if it'll work for your family.

Personally, I don't like having to unpack, repack and unpack again. Too much trouble. I like to get there and stay put until it's time to leave.

I would definitely split your time. Just returned from AKL and it was wonderful! A beautiful resort and the food was beyond belief...Highly recommend Boma's for breakfast. If you have the chance, I would definitely spend some time at AKL. If the weather turns rainy or you're looking for something different to do, ask for the hidden mickey safari page at the front desk. We did it with our DSs, 7 and 9, on a rainy Saturday and they had a blast!

I would think that for most folks the real question is whether or not you want the aggrivation of repacking. We got a great tip a while ago about packing for a trip with kids and expanded it to include ourselves. We pack clothes into seperate zip lock bags. Everyone gets a new bag each day. When its time to undress at the end of the day they go into a dirty laundry bag and therefore are already packed for the trip home or, in our case, for a quick trip to the laundry facilities. That seems to make repacking for a move to another resort unnecessary.

Hope this helps

We are splitting our stay between the Dolphin and AKL. It will be our first visit to the Dolphin but our 2nd stay at AKL. We are staying 6 nights at the Dolphin and 7 nights at AKL. We leave in 29 days! I vote for splitting your stay! Have fun planning!

If it means switching from a non-Disney resort to a Disney resort, I say split the stay. :)

We're splitting our up-coming stay between 3 resorts! It all depends on whether or not you like moving. We love to be on the run all the time (DS's included, but they're older; 12 & 15) and to try new resorts! It gives us a chance to check-out several resorts and see what we like!

Have a good trip!

Split the stay and take advantage of the great rate at AKL.

Dolphin is a nice resort and VERY convenient location, but you have GOT to stay at AKL. I've never stayed, but have eaten at Boma and toured the resort. It's fabulous and I'm sure the family will love it.
