We are planning a trip to WDW and staying at the Dolphin, using my wife's Nurse discount. We have a DD (will be 8 when we go) with CP in a wheelchair. Does anybody have any remarks on the Dolhin, I know that even though it is on Disney property and has the transportaion ammenities that other resorts have, it is not owned by Disney. I would like to hear from anyone "in the know" as to how accomodating they are with families with a special needs child. Thanks a bunch!!!!!

I have not actually stayed at the Dolphin yet, but I do have reservations. They have over 50 wheelchair accessible rooms and were very good to ask aobut my specific needs. As a matter of fact, I received an email from them checking to see if the room reserved met my needs. When are you going? I am going May 31-June 6, so it is many days away. :(

The Swan and Dolphin are very, very nice. I haven't stayed there as of yet. But I did tour the resort in December. The only negative thing I can say is that the bus service to those resorts are really bad. I waited for an hour and 15 minutes on a bus that could take me from the Swan to Downtown Disney. Now this may have been because my ECV is large and I needed a Nova Bus. All the other resorts I had no problem and never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for the right bus.

There is a path that leads to the Studio, so you can get to that park easily or take the boat. Epcot is a longer ride away or you can take the boat there too.
We haven't stayed at Swan or Dolphin, but we have stayed in a variety of resorts with our DD in her wheelchair and have never really had a problem with space in the room (especially when she was little).

Hi! I satyed in the Dolphin Twice. I am at T5/8 para. I use a manuel chair and had no problems. The rooms are average size. We had a king bed for DH and myself and a roll- away for our DD. The bathroom was large with a roll in shower. Do not forget to request a roll in shower if you need one. Also, The Swan does not have a roll in shower as of 2001. There bath chair was flimsy so try to stay at the Dolphin.

We did nothave anyissues with the transportation. We took the boat to MGM, the bus to MK and AK and rolled/walked to Epcot. Never had a long wait.

If you have any specific questions please fell free to ask.

Jean
