I have made reservations for a dolphin excursion for our trip aboard the Wonder October 21-24. This takes place while we are in Nassau, and I thought it was a wise decision since I have heard that Nassau is not that great. BUT, I just read that the excursions sometimes start even before the boat gets in the port. Now I am a little worried. I would hate to get my kids all excited for nothing.

Does anyone have any idea if this is a problem? Has anyone been on the Dolphin excursion? This will be our first cruise and first trip to Disney and we are so excited, but also scared! pirate:

Thanks for all your great tips!

We did the Dolphin Encounter, in Nassau, this past June. We did not book through Disney we booked directly with Dolphin Encounters which is the company Disney uses. There are multiple start times throughout the day. If you booked with Disney you will go as a group to Blue lagoon. There is no danger of missing it. There is a ferry going back and forth from Nassau to Blue Lagoon all day and the Dolphin Encounters go on all day.

This was a highlight of our trip. My DS7 and DD5 loved it. Have a great time!!!::yes::

Oh, thanks for the info! I was a little concerned! We did book through Disney~ emailed the excursion place and got a confirmation. I am so glad because I was really looking forward to it. Can you tell me a little more about what exactly you do? I saw the description in a page of excursion ideas but would like to know more. Are you cruising right now???

We cruised in June and will cruise again next June. The dolphin encounter is done at Blue lagoon in a "contained/netted" part of the lagoon. Your group will be on a square shaped dock that has a platform, below the water(approx. 2-3 feet), in the center of the square dock. It is also covered so that you are out of the sun. the dolphin has free range of the netted lagoon. He/she will swim up to the center of the square dock while you are in the water on the platfprm and interact with you. The trainer will explain what you are to do and instruct the dolphin to do various things. The dolphin will let you touch it and even roll over so that you can touch it's belly. If you wish you can touch it's teeth (only when the trainer says to) The dolphin will give each person a kiss and a hug etc. You are going to be amazed at how big and smart these animals are. We were. It was wonderful!!!::yes::

I would suggest that you take a waterproof camera. They do take pictures which are pricey but worth it. They were all VERY good pictures. We also bought the video because we wanted to revisit anytime we want.

How fun! I cannot wait! I wanted to be a marine biologist and I was always bugging my parents to let me do a summer internship at Sea World in San Antionio but I never was able to. And now I will have a chance to intereact with one finally! YEAY! Do you think that my 3 year old will be too little? I think she is very mature and she loves the water and she loves animals so I think she should be fine, but you never know!
