We have promised our kids for years that we would take them to Disney. Finally, we are planning our once in a lifetime trip for spring break. We will spend 3 days at the resort and 4 days on the cruise. Our two girls (7, 13) want to swim with the dolphins. (Our 16 yr old son thinks this will be the worst week of his life, and wants nothing to do with his "gross" sisters, "boring" parents, and planned "teen" activities!!) Anyone have feedback on the dolphin experience or stingray adventure that is offered in Nassau? Any other recommended shore excursions? Any suggestions for entertaining the teenager - such a tough age!?

ajanicki...check out this website..its pretty super and explains everything clearly about the dolphins in Nassau...

edited to say Welcome to the DIS boards! and if you keep on reading all the good info they have available on here, your son will learn that there is a teen place to hang out which I understand to be awesome! ::yes::

I think your youngest may be too young for the swim but the Dolphin experience will be perfect. We did this last January thru another cruise and the swim was a little to intense for some of the teens in our group. There was a lot of individual swimming and more one on one dolphin time. The experience gets you about waist deep in the pool and the dolphins come to you vs you swimming to them. This might be better for both your girls. Hope this helps.

Just got bacj from Christmas cruise and did the Encounter with kids. DD 7, DS 12. They were absolutely thrilled. You pet, check teeth, dance hug, take LOTS and LOTS of pictures and generally clown around. There is a video shot of the entire group. Ours was pretty full since it was the holidays but I feel it was worth it.

DW and I also did swim a few years ago on separate trip. That was an experience for sure but for thr smaller kids I would say the experience is better.

Either way ENJOY ! I'm jealous!

What was the water temp like? We are thinking of going mid-Dec & were considering the encounter w/ our 5 kiddos. I had another thread where I asked about the weather in Dec & a few said the weather was great, but the water temp at Castaway Cay were cooler that what they liked. I'm not sure exactly what that means! Also, did you book this excursion through DCL or on the website & what did you do for transportation? Whew...I'm out of breath!! Thanks for any help!:D
