We went to make ressies for our group of 14 through DCL for our 7/1 cruise. They couldn't accommodate all of us so we contacted DD on our own. Turns out DD wasn't opening until 7/1 and we stopped there on 7/5. Paid $75 a head. 3 of our group went ahead and it costs 11 of us (one van) $40 one way. Not too bad for 11 people. Cozumel is very much in ruins. It is very sad. DD is still under construction, but they were very gracious and polite. They wouldn't let us use our water cameras. I figured ok, we'll just buy a few pictures or maybe a video. Then the FL-like rains came. They gave us a tremendous amount of time with the dolphins. Then came time for kisses and fin-shakes. We couldn't get the professional photographers out because of the rain. They stopped the lesson, let us get our cameras and gave us more time with the dolphins. I highly recommend going to DD. They were great with all our kids and our group of senior relatives. Three things that aren't mentioned are:

$12 to ENTER Chankanaab. I thought the $12 was optional. $12 is mandatory even if you're paid up at DD. We did go to Chankanaab a bit and they're obviously dying for you to stay a while and have drinks and snacks. The water is kind of murky with tons of grass. There were some fish. To get to the water you go down about 3 steps and then it drops. There might have been steps in the past all the way down, but not anymore.

There are no bathrooms where the Dolphins are. You have to take a free ride on a open air truck to the toilets.

You need to wear water shoes. Where you stand is metal grating and it really hurts your feet.

That being said I would do it again in a heartbeat. To see my sons face as the dolphin kissed him was priceless.

Oh, while we had time to go to the beach, go back to the pier and shop--DCL brought cruisers to Cancun's DD and had no time at all in Cozumel.
