Well, I used the Entertain code to get a local rental here in NY for $120 plus taxes for the week for a compact. I just tried to extend my rental for another week and was told I could not get the same rate because that promotional code is for travel agents and it should've never went thru. I then told the woman on the phone that the rate is still coming up on the website so should I just book a new reservation and return the car I have right now? She said NOPE they wouldn't honor it. So I tried to find a customer service number for Dollar, couldn't, so I spoke live with them on their website. I explained the situation that the rate is still coming up on their website, so she told me that I should book the rate online and just get a new rental when i return the other one. I asked her if they would honor the rate though when I went to pick up the car, she put me on hold to check. She came back and said NOPE they will not honor it, and are blocking it out of their system and the best she could do for me is offer me the rate in their system today, which was around $270.00 for the week! NO THANKS!

I asked if I had our travel agent at work book it for me, can I get the rate, she said sorry no. I explained that this is very poor customer service, and the rate is still coming up on their site, so they should honor it. She agreed that it was poor customer service and said and I quote "If we went on customer service, we'd have nothing left". I said thank you for your time, you have lost a customer, goodbye.

Soo ya'll might want to double check with the actual office you are picking the car up from to double check that they will honor the rate!

Wow, this Entertain code sure has stirred up a hornet's nest. I just read a post earlier today where someone just got back from WDW that used the entertain code with no problem. After reading your post I went to their web site because something didn't seem right about the whole "travel agent" scenario that the customer rep gave you. Right under their FAQ's is the following:

"Can Travel agents make direct car rental reservations through the DOLLAR Web site?

Yes. Agents simply go to the Travel Agent area of the Web site to log in with their valid IATA number for tracking and commission purposes. "

If this is the case then how would everybody be able to use this code, this would be something that is restricted to that area IMHO. Do we have any travel agents out there that can help with this?

I've booked using the "Entertain" code for a trip in September, and can't imagine that a company wouldn't honor what you've been guaranteed. If they have a problem with their web site that's their problem not the consumers. Not to mention I've read on here a couple of times where "customer service" has said they are going to take away that code, but it hasn't happened in at least five months since I had my first reservation using that code.

Just food for thought here............

I too can't believe they said they won't honor it. I have to return my rental car tomorrow, and I went ahead and booked a new reservation pick up right after I return the rental, with the code that is STILL working on their website, so we will see if they actually honor it.

It's kind of like going to the grocery store, something is marked 1.49 and it rings up 3.99. They are legally obligated to give it to you at the price it's marked, so I would think they would be legally obligated to give you the price that the reservation is confirmed for, but I guess the internet is a whole different world!

Please keep us filled in about how it goes using the "entertain" code. I reserved using the code and really don't want any problems. I got a good rate with National (which I didnt' cancell yet) that was only $40 cheaper the Dollar anyway..... Beth

it still seems to be showing up on dollar's website for our trip in november

maybe each office eg NY and MCO ...handles this differently when they see it on a reservation since it does not require a coupon just the word "like" FVG or KISS

maybe dollar will change things now and require the "actual" hard copy with the code on it when one checks in

it seems a lot of people have had no problems at orlando, but if anyone has problems please let us all know

in the dollar information, Rental Scneario, the rate category is listed s SWTAM currently but originally the rate category was MATAM when the rate was 125$ for an intermediate

would someone like to check with dollar to see that the "rate category" SWTAM means......

I posted a positive response on the transportation board. We just returned on Tuesday night. We went to the counter and the agent pulled up our ressie. Absolutely no problem at all. He did ask if a full size was going to be comfortable enough for us. Gave us our paperwork and we were out of the airport in less than 10 minutes. Got a great car, practically new. Returned the car in less than 5 minutes, confirmed our bill, which was the same amount quoted. So no problem here using the ENTERTAIN code just last week in Orlando.:D
