My husband and I are headed to WDW in 2 weeks and got a rate of $79.00 for the week for a mid sized car through Dollar.

My daughters and I are going in August as well. Any chance if I ask the rental counter if I can book the same fare for my August trip??

I know its wishful planning..but wishes do come true in WDW!! I thought maybe rates are lower if you book at the actual counter when your there renting from them?

Any thoughts and opinions??

Thanks.

Is that $79 + taxes? I haven't used Dollar in several years because they charge $10/day extra for the additional driver where National, Alamo and Budget is free. They would not honor that rate for August since car rentals all based on demand and supply.

Yes, $79.00 plus tax. Only one driver. My Husband is too
impatient with tourists driving..so I always drive. And my
daughters are early 20"s..so too young to rent.

But does one have a better chance and a better rate in person while renting then
through the internet later.??

You can always ask, but, I don't feel confident that you will receive the answer you want. Give them a call.

No, National and Alamo are not free for additional drivers UNLESS you join their programs, Emerald Club and Insiders. And, there are requirements for the add. drivers with these programs.

Has anyone made a reservation at the rental counter? Was it any less expensive then on their website?

Thank you.

Usually walk ups are more expensive. Advance reservations are usually less expensive.

I was asking back to my original post if you are currently picking up a rental and make a reservation right then and there for your next rental..a few months out..is it any cheaper?

Has anyone ever tried?

I think your original question was already answered. You can try asking it 10 different ways and I believe the answer will be the same. And that answer is NOT gonna happen. The rental will go at the prevailing rate for that time period. I just asked a Dollar agent about 10 mins. ago.

I'm sorry..you are not the only person on this board to answer and the blog went off to additional drivers.. I did NOT ask about additional drivers. or walk up reservations..I asked about frequent renters reserving at the counter rather that online.

I simply asked if anyone has done this...you have not..so quit responding!!

Look, I work at the MCO airport and I asked an agent your very question and they said you would pay the prevailing rate for that time period. IE: If you walked up today, frequent renter or not, and asked for a rate in Aug. You would be given the rate applicable to the August time period. I know I am not the only person on this board and I can read and know what directions this has taken.
If you don't like the answer I was given by an agent for that company, I suggest you call them directly.
