Based on one week rentals, the prices for Dollar and Thifty are about similar depending on which day for pick up.. So, which would you recommend based on service, location for pick up and condition of the cars?

We have used both and were equally pleased with both. Dollar charges extra if your spouse drives and Thrifty doesn't. Thrifty is off site and that is its downfall, but we were willing to do that since the price was so much better for our last trip. Thrifty asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a Grande Caravan, we declined and still got it. No matter what, join their fast lane programs and you will have fast service. Dollar did give us a brand new van with only 40 miles on it. Thrifty's van still had low mileage and a good vehicle. I plan to go with the lowest price for my next trip.

Have used Dollar many, many times and have never had any complaints. They always seem to have the best rate during our travels.

Have always used Dollar. Great service and convenient pick-up and drop-off. I've booked off-site to save money, and it's just not worth it! :crazy2:

where did you find the free spouse driver info? when I checked the site, it had an adiitional charge. if this is true, it is majorly awesome!

Sorry, but I just used Thrifty on 7/16..they charge an extra 5.00 a day for additional drivers..

I talked to Thrifty on the phone to confirm my ressie and they said no charge for additional drivers if the driver is your spouse. This was in June of last year, they may have since changed their policy. I also signed up for the Blue Chip program so perhaps that is one of their perks.

Ok. I just chatted online with a someone from Thrifty. She checked Thrifty's policy for that particular location and said that they do charge $5/day for a spouse. I am so disappointed because they saved us a lot of money on our last trip. Either we got lucky last time or they have since changed their policy. I do plan to call the location directly but I have to get off line to do that. Sorry to give you all wrong information.
