Anyone can join, its free and probably one of the best things you can do for a trip to Florida.
Last thing you want is a 60-90 min wait to get a car. Used it 4 times now saved about 3 hours total.

I agree with wayne, does save alot of time as your given priority at the dollar desk as you have your own dollar express line to stand in, and its usually empty, compared to all the other passengers waiting in the normal "queue"

Yes, anyone can join and No, you don't have to book your car at the same time.

Just do it, don't hesitate and do it now!

I have just saved myself well over an hour standing in line on my last trip, which is the last thing you want after an 8 hour flight and 45 minutes in an immigration queue!

I booked the car via Virgin fly-drive and then some time later joined Dollar Express. At the desk I went straight to the front via the dedicated Express line and handed over my membership card and separate Virgin fly drive voucher. I was not asked for any driving licence or credit card and presume they just take the details you already provided when you registered for Dollar Express.

After 18 years of marriage it is not often I manage to impress my wife anymore, but I can tell you she was impressed when I jumped this queue in the way I did as she had no idea I had joined Dollar Express.

I've just applied for the membership and they are processing it now.
I don't think my card will arrive in time for our trip. Do you think I would be able to take the express line just with a membership number?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on their website that you could use with your number alone. Admittedly, this was when we joined which is a while ago, but can't see why you'd have an issue.

Same as Matt I have read you only need your express number, no problem without the card.

Just a word of warning to anyone trying to use it when travelling with Virgin Holidays. We tried to use it a couple of weeks ago but, because there were only 5 people in the line in front of us, we were told to wait our turn by the VH rep. I actually though the whole point was to ensure you were given priority over non-express members but the VH rep said it was to minimise your wait and, as there wasn't much of a wait (in her opinion) she wouldn't allow us to go to the front. As it was, it didn't make too much of a difference to us as it was already nearly midnight so a few minutes extra couldn't hurt that much but I found it strange that VH reps had a different opinion on what it was for

Another reason not to use VH for car hire. I used VH once for car hire as the price was only about £10 more than booking indepedantly, now I wouldn't use then even with a saving. They don't deserve the business.

I have to be honest and say I wasn't sure whether we were on 'A' or 'B'. We just followed the rental car signs until we found Dollar and the Virgin Rep told us where to line up.
