Who here has rented from Dollar at MCO? When I quote on Orbitz, they are significantly cheaper than anyone and are on site at the airport. It makes me a little nervous that their cars listed, though, as examples are ones that are not even made anymore (Dodge Intrepid...went to look at Dodge site what that was and got "buy it used?"). What is the catch w/Dollar or did I just luck out on the rate?

I have rented from Dollar and had a great experience. I haven't heard anything bad about them on these boards either.

I just rented from Dollar yesterday (SUV $226 w/ Tax) weekly.
Don't know if it was the cheapest but it seemed to be. :confused3
AAA wanted MORE! What a joke...I have AAA and they wanted more
than Dollar and I would've had to go outside the airport for said
rental! We did that last year...never again!
Dollar is RIGHT THERE AT THE TERMINAL!!!A no brainer!

:goodvibes
Now that SWA posted for after 2/3/06...
WE CAN RELAX A BIT!
Who's with me?!

See y'all down in Mouseville...President's Week!

I think the whole Intrepid listing is because for awhile Chrysler wasn't making any kind of car that fit into the Full size rental car category. They are now making the Dodge Magmum but its in short supplies and I am sure Dodge would rather sell it to dealers than fleet purchaseres. What Dollar was doing but not advertising it was offering Ford Taurus cars as Full size. For the last year, every place I went, the full size was a Taurus. Since Dollar is known for Chrysler cars, there might be some fleet rules with Chrysler about advertising some other manufacturers make of car....

Dollar's web site is now listing a full size as a Dodge Magnum or Taurus.

I have been renting Dollar out of MCO for years and am very pleased. They tend to get the brand new cars and after they have miles on them, are shipped north.

Thanks...I don't really care what the make of car is since I'm only using it for a week anyway, but I wanted to be sure that I wasn't getting some old clunker that was like 5 years old and had a bazillion miles on it. Sounds like Dollar IS my best bet after all...I think I will book them then and save the headache of searching any more (will they rent me two cars at a time or just one? we are traveling w/another family and the more I can book together, the better).

THANKS
Chris

I have rented from Dollar several times at MCO. I had always received a low mileage car (a Stratus usually) and was happy with the service. The only time I received something less than satisfactory was right after Charley. It was a low mileage car that looked like it had been thru a hurricane (gee I wonder why) and was about the only car Dollar had left. The lot attendent was excellent about documenting the dents and dings and I did not have any trouble when returning it.

Just curious if anyone knows do you have a leaway in returning it, some of them it is an hour without charging another day? :bounce:

I believe there is a one-hour grace period.

Another happy Dollar Rental Car customer here. Great prices yet decent service.

We've used Dollar, Budget and National, and never had a problem with any of them Never had a junky car, but once with one we had the ugliest colored car ever. We actually referred to it as "Ugly Car". But it was great because we could always find it amonst the sea of white rentals in parking lots!

Most times you can book the cars and just name the other person as the driver when you get there.Dollar has been a fine rental for us as well.
