DOLLAR CAR RENTAL how secure is resveration..

I got a reservation for a minivan with Dollar but they did not ask for a credit card or anything. How secure is this reservation. will I get a minivan or will they run out and I will have to settle for a different car.

I filled out the papers for the fastlane and will fax them over on there they ask for 2 credt cards and drivers Lic# etc. If I cancel my resveration will they charge my cards?

I would like to know this too as I have a car reserved with them for Sept...Is there any problem since they do not require a credit card hold online or much personal data actually..any info would help here...

We rented a minivan through Dollar last month and had no problems at all. I made the reservations online and called to confirm one week prior to our trip. I'm not sure what they would do if they did not have a van available when you arrived - you can probably ask about the policy when you confirm your res. BTW - they will give you the option of upgrading from the Dodge Caravan to the Grand Caravan for an extra $5/day. Good luck and enjoy the trip!

No, we did not use the fastlane. Actually, the counter was not busy at all so we wouldn't have needed to. If you are concerned about giving out the license # and credit card numbers, you could probably get by without fastlane. But if you need to cancel your reservation, I'm sure they wouldn't charge the card - unless you just didn't show up without cancelling with them.

We rented from Dollar last January. We had reserved a mini van and we went got to the counter all they had left were fullsize vans and I mean fullsize. We ended up in a 12 passenger van. It was tricky trying to find a parking spot with a van that size. The next day we called and exchanged the van for a mini van. Of course the rate got goofed up and they over charged us. I e-mailed them when I got home and they promptly changed the amount on my credit card. Their rates are good, and it wasn't that big of a problem so I would rent from them again.

Last December, I rented a compact from Dollar. They ran out of clean compacts and gave me a minivan for the compact price! I have requested minivans with them five different times (last two times in March for two spring break trips) and have always had success in getting. Oh, by the way, at MCO airport, FASTLANE still requires a stop at the counter. Just get front of the line service - still moves you through quickly!
