I just got a really good rate for a standard SUV with dollar ($161.99/week). Has anyone gotten an SUV from Dollar? It says it'll be a Jeep Grand Cherokee. How much luggage space are in these?

Also, is anyone a member of the Express service? We are National Emerald Club and Budget Fastbreak, so we always just go out to the garage at MCO. Would it be benefitual to join Dollar Express?

Thanks! ;)

Could you please share your dates and any codes that you used to get this rate? Thanks!

It is for May 2006, and I just went on the Dollar site and plugged in the dates! No special codes. I think it is an awesome rate! :)

I think that you got a really good deal on that! I just tried my dates and I am getting almost 1 1/2 times that. I am paying the same for a full size through National.

I booked the $161/week for the standard SUV about 2 weeks ago for our November trip, and noticed that it is now almost $100 more!

We originally booked with National for $369.99/week for a Full-Size SUV (Dodge Durango), so this is quite the savings. We'll probably have 4 suitcases, and 4 small bags (as carryons). Will we have enough room? Anyone have a Grand Cherokee? Thanks.

You should be fine. The trunk is the same as other comperable vehicles (Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Toyota 4Runner). Our last trip we rented a SUV from Hertz and ended up with a dirty, old Toyota 4Runner. Although we were disapointed in the vehicle (and cleanliness for that matter :guilty: ) it easily fit 5 adults and tons of luggage. If you are very worried, test drive one at a local dealership and see what you think.....

I own a Jeep Cherokee and as I am not sure if that will fit for sure...it sounds like it will. I have fit 2 big suitcases, 2 golf bags, 2 small bags plus shopping bags with no problem.

Just turned in my Jeep Grand Cherokee yesterday when I left LAX. The car itself was nice and had plenty of room for the 3 of us with luggage. I would HIGHLY recommend the Dollar Express though because the line to check in was HORRIBLY long. We usually rent from Hertz (where we are GOLD five star members) but Dollar was more than half of the price LESS for the same type of car so we tried them this time.

:sunny: :teeth: I read on another thread today...that if you join Dollar Express...they will give you a coupon for a free upgrade! That means, you can actually get the Large SUV for the same price!

We used the express (fastlane) service last year in Oct and will be using it again this year. We got the same SUV deal you did which we are very happy with it! Last year we rented a mini-van and the express service got us to the counter quickly, but we had a slight problem with the gal at the counter. On our membership info on file with Dollar we refused all extra insurance coverage since we have our own car insurance. Despite this the agent tried to sell us add-on coverage. I advised her that we were express service members and she didn't mention it again. The process took about 5 minutes. Actually it took longer to get our keys in the parking garage than it did at the rental counter.

in may we rented a standard suv from dollar and got a durango :)

i just booked last night that $161 rate for Jan 6-13th....with taxes etc. it is $208.41! great rate.
