Dollar car hire - choice of locations ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if the different Dollar locations (MCO/ Grosvenor hotel / Holiday Inn etc offer different selections ?

I have booked via Virgin for 14 days with an LX car for a rate of £308 including insurance (free upgrade from compact so this worked out cheaper than DIY) but I only pick the car up the day after arrival.

I can choose which location I collect from but I was thinking that perhaps MCO would offer a better choice as there would probably be more through-put of vehicles there.

Ihe main reason is that I may want to change to an SUV depending on extra costs when I arrive.

In my experience you are right to think there will be much more choice at MCO. We always pick our vehicle up there, but on a couple of occasions we've need to change the vehicle at both the International Drive and Hotel Plaza Blvd locations, and the selection was limited.

Unlike Alamo, who let you choose your vehicle at MCO, Dollar give you the keys to a specific vehicle when you go to the desk to complete paperwork. However, at the other locations we found them happy to discuss what they had available, even when they were not trying to get you to upgrade.

Sounds logical that they will have more choice at MCO.

We've had a number of cars from Dollar at the airport, and several times I have asked if they have a specific car available and they have been happy to check the inventory for me. So, if you have a specific SUV in mind, you mau be ok. They used to have Dodge Durango's which are nice and big if that's what you fancy about an SUV.

We got an SUV last year from Dollar at MCO - free upgrade from a full size car.

It was a Chrysler Pacifica - very comfortable.
