Dollar at the Governor DTD

I am looking for first hand experiences with Dollar car rental at the Governor. Any issues pushing of extra insurance, or not having the class of car resvered? How about dropping after hours, is that avaliable?

Any other hints tip etc.

We are looking at renting for a single day for a side trip to Universal, and found rates of $35 and under.

We rented a mini-van through Dollar (for two days in the middle of our trip) last month and picked it up at The Grovesnor. We got a great rate through Dollar's website and the only "issue" we had was that the check-in form indicated that it had a full tank of gas when in actuality it was ~ 2/3 full. We were back at OKW when we realized it and DH didn't feel like arguing with them. They asked about extra insurance, but did not push when we politely said no thank you. We got the exact van that we had reserved. I don't think they offer extra hours drop off, but you might want to call them directly and ask. DH and I took a WDW bus from OKW to The Marketplace and walked to The Grosvenor (a short walk). When DH returned the van, they had a courtesy shuttle that brought him back to OKW. It was a really painless and easy experience.

We rented a car from Dollar at the Grosvenor in May for a week. We got a great rate of $98.00 for the week and didn't have any problems at all. We were staying at Pop and took the bus to DTD and then had a short walk to the hotel. I think they have a shuttle but didn't use it. The Dollar desk is just inside the main lobby of the hotel. I had booked a compact but I got the next level up - a brand new Dodge Avenger!

I had previously signed up for their Dollar Express program and had on my profile that I didn't want extra insurance since I've got a credit card that covers it. They didn't even ask me about it.

Their hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm. We returned the car by 4:30. I'm not sure what their policy is for returning a car after hours so that is something you might want to check out. But if you rent for a day you've got 24 hours so you could return it the next morning if you wanted. They keep their cars in the hotel parking lot with only a few spots reserved for their cars. Ours wasn't in one of those spots so I had to search a bit for it. When you return the car, park it in the same parking lot that you pick it up in. After we returned the car we walked back to DTD again for some shopping and took the bus back to POP.

There is also a Hess gas station close by on Buena Vista Dr., so you can fill it up there before you return the car.

Overall, I would probably use them again!
