Dollar are they really that bad

We have used Dollar for every Florida trip and dont like them much....long queues to check in (and we are Frequent Virgins), pressure to upgrade, manky cars that need to be changed (this has happened 3 times), baby seats that frankly are a disgrace and should be in the bottom of a skip, not in a car etc, etc.

However...one thing I will add...on last years trip, the manager of the Wendys we had pulled into for a snack reversed his brand new Honda smack bang into the side of our (stationary) vehicle. We werent hurt at all (though he hit the side that my baby son was sitting) and our car only had a scratch...his was a wreck though. I envisged a total nightmare in sorting this out with Dollar, but I was pleasantly surprised. We drove to the I-Drive Holiday Inn where they have a desk and the guy took a photo of the damage, took the details of the guy that hit us and we were on our way again in 15 minutes. I was quite impressed with that.

We will probably end up with them again this year!

We have used Dollar for several trips to the US and always book via Airline Network. I have never had a problem.

I have never bothered to check for damage when jet-lagged and tired - we have all the insurances, so who cares?

We usually book a 7 seater, but have also booked luxury and convertibles. Last time we had a 4x4.

Out of 10 trips 9 with Dollar 1 with Alamo only prob was with Alamo, Arrived Boxing Day they had no cars left but to be fair they did pay for us a taxi to Allstars resort and back to Airport next day which cost them $100. Rang round every major car hire company and not one car available of any size.
Anyone booking with Virgin consider Taking no car option then booking Thru Airnet.co.uk this is also with Dollar but I have always found cheaper to pay for Hire + platinum ins package than Virgins "free" car ins only package.
We always have full size car which is not much dearer than Economy and order 2 door, someone told me they don't have 2 doors anymore and so far we are always given 4 door. No point in them trying to talk me into upgrade only things more expensive are Open tops and 4x4's etc which I don't like.
