Doing Universal affordably?

Is it possible to stay at hotel/motel near Universal and use the Lynx to get to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, etc.?

I went to the Lynx website to check out their schedules, but I'm wondering if this is easy enough, or a huge pain in the neck?

Has anyone done this? I realize the bus probably wouldn't be coming every 10 minutes like a Disney bus.

Would it be a terribly long walk from the bus station to the actual park?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to plan ahead for my next Florida trip. We've done the Disney with all the perks, want to try something different this time.

I think there are hotels in the area within walking distance or have free shuttles to area attractions that are reasonable. Staying onsite would be great but it's not cheap. If you get a hotel close enough, you wouldn't have to fool with Lynx...which can be a pain.

You might want to look into using hotwire or some other type of bidding website to get a room.
