Sesame Place has been a great "warm up" to our trip to WDW. When we first started going in May, DS was scared of everything, the rides (poor kid cried sitting on our lap on the bench on the Merry Go Round!), characters, shows, etc. We had our Disney trip booked and I have to admit I was panicking! All I could think of is we are going to have this trip paid for and DS is going to hate it.... Thankfully the more we went and slowly tried things he warmed up to everything. He now starts kicking the horse as soon as he gets on and says UP! UP! UP! He likes the characters but still can't sit through a show. He LOVES the parade they have so I'm sure Disney's will blow him away. He even really seems to enjoy Sesame's fireworks (they are VERY toddler friendly) so hopefully he likes Wishes because I have a Cruise booked
Sesame Place has a really cute Halloween celebration (we plan on going back again). They have trick or treating (7 different stations) a few of the things we got were a mini juice box, a mini banana (no, it didn't dance!)
cheese doodles, and some candy that my husband enjoyed. They had clues telling you where to find the different stations and they would punch out the corresponding # when you went to their station. DS loved handing the employees the paper!! I originally wasn't going to get him an autograph book for Disney but based on how much fun he had handing over a piece of paper, I think I will. I really want to look into the ones over on the disign board. I would really rather buy one, so hey if anyone is reading this and you want to make me one, PM me! I am going to check etsy too.
We really lucked out because the weather was cold in the morning and warmed up to a comfortable temperature later in the day. The park was totally empty which my son was happy about because we let him get out of his stroller and walk. I then realized I forgot to put a safetytat on him and was having a small heart attack that something would happen
. Not that he was ever more than like 6 inches from me, but I still worry. I've now put some safetytats in my diaper bag incase I forget again.
First we did some trick or treating in Abby's "maze". It was really cute and DS was thrilled because he got to push a button.
Here he got a mini banana, which he then played with and squished and squished until we had to take it away before it was squirting out the sides. He was pretty upset that we took it away but thankfully it was quickly forgotten.
Next up was the pump cars. DS loves them, the only crappy thing is they are really hard to pump which means we have to push him. They are very low, at the level of back breaking. The quality isn't the best (I took it from my iphone). Oh and the other not so great thing, they are located under the family raft ride so you get dripped on sometimes. Not bad during the summer, but when it's 50 out, BAD! I have no idea why Sesame still had water in some of their slides.
They had a hayride that started at 11 (we got there a little before opening at 10) so it was just about 11 so we headed over to the hayride. They had it out in the parking lot so you had to leave the park, get your hand stamped do they hayride, go back through bag check and come back into the park. It wasn't a big deal, but if it was crowded it probably would have been time consuming to do. It was really cute. They had a character on the wagon (we did it twice, Bert once and then Ernie) and a entertainment employee was hosting the hayride. We sang some songs and they read The Legend of Spookley The Square Pumpkin. It was a really cute book. If we didn't already have a million books, I'd add this one to our collection. DS really enjoyed the hayride. It was the perfect length of time.
Here is a picture from after the hayride, my son was more interested in the tractor than Bert! I do think his first set of wheels will be a John Deere!
We headed back into the park and Zoe was out taking pictures. I was really disappointed that we kept missing Bert and Ernie. They were dressed as a pigeon (Bert) and a rubber ducky (Ernie). Hopefully we can catch them next time.
We did some more trick or treating and then stopped for lunch. We brought stuff for DS (Sesame isn't too on their game for food allergies) and DS and I ordered some food. With our season passes we get %30 off food, which makes the prices a little more reasonable. Lunch was a nice needed break. We were hoping DS would take a nap after lunch but no such luck.
All season long I have been looking getting a handimal and decided we'd wait till the end of the season. We got one made after lunch and I think it's pretty cute. They charge $10 a hand. They offer framing and matting too but it would have been $50 extra! I told her no thanks I'll wait till I have a coupon for Joanne's and go there! I don't know how well they will show up, but they are turtles.
We tried watching Elmo's World Live (the changed the show to be Halloween themed) but DS did not want to sit and watch it so we left there and finished trick or treating.
Next we did the Count's Unhaunted Castle. The highlight for DS was pointing out "meow meow's" nose. We did this 3 times because he loved running around it. Really wasn't much to it, but there was a few buttons he could push so it's a big win in his book for that reason.
We saw Elmo twice and rode a few rides. We tried out the teacups (kept them from spinning) for the first time. DS didn't hate them, but he didn't love them either. I think it's hard because it's too short to see over the cup, so he doesn't have much of a view.
We managed to last long enough to catch the parade at 4. The parade is cute, DS loves it but thank goodness this is it's last year. It is 13 years old and it really shows it's age!
So there was a little trip report (even if it's wasn't Disney) in my pre trip!
