Doing the World nutless and eggless with a side of asthma! Updated!

In all of my trips we have NEVER done a rope drop, ever!!!

I just popped in here to say hello, after you so kindly visited my PTR! Wow - never??? Really? The first thing I tell anyone I know who is heading to the World, is "Make sure you are at the park at least 15 minutes before it opens". Even this, our "relaxed, adult trip", we are doing RD the first 4 days! The last 2 days before we leave will be the relaxed, sleep in days. I think the RD thing was hammered into my brain when we took DH's family on Labor Day one year - we hit MK at RD, and were done with everything by 1pm...with 16 people!:yay:

My husband and I have talked about getting to a rope drop for years! We never made it. The closest we came was back in 1990 when we were staying with my dear friend Eddie who worked at Ft. Wilderness (and still does) drove us in with him in the morning, but by the time we took the transportation from Ft. Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom, we'd missed rope drop. We are hoping that our upcoming Thanksgiving trip will be the one. We're traveling with my ex-air force BIL and my sister who are early risers. We'd gonna try attaching ourselves to their schedule. We're all staying together in a 2 bedroom villa, so that should help.

We normally only go during non busy times so we never really needed rope drop. Well, except the one year we thought it would be fun to be there for the Easter parade. Biggest.mistake.ever!!! The crowds were beyond insane and not to mention we were totally devastated to see Regis sits in front of a blue screen  kind of killed the magic for us! I am really going to try this year!! But I think it will be a lost cause, once DS sees the train I have a feeling we won't get passed the train station!

It is getting closer!!We are surprising my parents with a Wishes cruise! They don't even know that they exist so it's really surprise! My mom sent me an email today saying she saw on facebook about the wishes dessert party and she thinks we should do it because it sounds like fun. I told her I didn't think it would be a good idea because of how close you are to the fireworks and DS might get scared. She agreed and said how fun it sounds. Based on her excitement over that I think she is going to love the Wishes cruise even more than I planned ! So excited!!

When I sent in my paperwork to special diets I asked that someone at Pop call me just to go over some stuff. Chef Dan called me today and he was so nice and helpful! He explained what options they have and what they can do for us. I feel so comfortable and confident in our dining choices at Pop after this conversation! He also told me who to contact and how to get in contact with a chef when we are in the food court and gave me his phone # incase I have any questions before our trip! Oh, who am I kidding, he called me princeess, that won me over right there! Funny thing is if someone from other than Disney called me princess I would be skeeved yet at Disney it is perfectly ok with me!

Hey --- that sounds awesome! I was thinking about doing the wishes cruise as well. Maybe next trip. The dessert party is fun but .... it's a lot of food LOL.

That's really cool that the chef from POP gave you a shout. Glad to hear that they are going to be able to help you out while you're there.

Just found your trip report.:thumbsup2
yes we should bump into each other..but i don't know what you look like. I should put a pic up of my family in my siggie.

Hi! Found your PTR link from a post you made-- We'll be there at the same time! :goodvibes I haven't read your whole report yet, but I see you're a fellow asthma mom freaking out about keeping DS well! I kept the boys home from mother's day out today just in hopes of keeping the germies away!! DS's is also viral/URI induced. I'm bringing the nebulizer and his rescue inhaler (in addition of course, to his normal preventative inhaler) in hopes that if I'm overly prepared, then he'll stay well! ;) Anyways- I'll need to catch up on the rest of your report- but hope you have a great trip! See you there!! (We'll be the ones with the twin boys in the bright blue stroller!!)

Hi, your title caught my eye since my younger ds has peanut and egg allergies and we'll be at WDW in December for his sister's MAW trip. We're also from NJ too! :) Hope all of your meals work out for you!

Vacation has sort of officially started!! DH went in to work today and was told he could have off if he wanted and of course he said yes!! I am very excited because that frees me up to get stuff done without my "helping hands" because he will be thrilled his daddy is home.

My list of things to do: wash, pack, get things set for the neighbor to take care of Momma Kitty, the bank, pick up our shirts I had done, figure out what I am doing with the other ones I bought (lime green!), and try and figure something out with hr insurance and pharmacy. I want to get an extra inhaler for my son but the insurance won't cover it until the 20th. I may have to pay out of pocket if they don't approve an early release. Fingers crossed they will because it's $130 but if they cover it, it would be free.

Looks like I need to step away from the dis and get moving!!!!

I picked our shirts up tonight! We are going to wear them to MVMCP on 11/16!

say hi if you see us!

:headache:oh and I didn't pack today :rolleyes1

guess we know what I'll be doing tomorrow! I have not decided what I'm going with the lime green shirts I bought either. Ugh, I need to get moving!!!

It's taken me longer than I hoped to get started but once we got home, everyone but me had terrible colds and with the holidays, I'm just getting to start day 1!

I was up until 11 or so packing, I'm such a procrastinator, some day I will learn and do it ahead of time! Finally got everything squared away, went to bed and woke up shortly after at 3:30. I slept better than I thought I would. Our neighbor (bless her heart!) agreed to take us to the airport. We joked she wouldn't wake up in time, so when we saw her bedroom light flick on, we were somewhat relived lol.

We left the house at 4:30am. We left Adam in his jammies hoping he would not wake up when we put him in the car but he woke up on the way out (probably the freezing cold air did it). He stayed awake the whole ride to the airport and was in a pretty good mood. We are very lucky he is a super easy going kid and wakes up pleasant. He was pretty thrilled with the elevator in the airport. I was nervous about getting through security with all of his medicine, both OTC and prescription and both nebulizers. Plus trying to deal with our stuff, him, his stroller, and all the fun stuff that comes with traveling. Having Adam in his foot pj's was a smart move, it was one less set of shoes to deal with! I have to admit I was not too impressed with TSA in Philly. I let a handful of agents know about his bag of medical goodies and no one asked to see anything, looked at it or even took it out of the bag! Adam had a sippy of milk with him and that was treated like it was ticking! It went through the x ray machine and then they brought over some thing and did something or other to the cup. Kind of reminded me of Monsters Inc when the one monster had a sock on his back and the CDA comes busting out of the woodwork and spring into action. Once they deemed it safe Adam was happy to have it back. Whatever it takes to keep us safe, I'm all for.

We got to the gate pretty early, having no idea what security lines were going to be or what it would be like with Adam's medical stuff, we erred on the side of caution and ended up with some time to kill. Adam was wide awake and running around the terminal. We figured to let him burn off all the energy he possibly could. Adam also spent some time checking out the plane.

He also played with some of the other kids waiting for the plane, everyone is always in such a good mood on flights heading to vacation. DH and I were hungry so I went in search of food for us. I found some bagels and got a banana and some pretzels for Adam. The bagels were awful (which we didn't find out until we were on the plane). I think they were from 2 weeks ago.

It was getting closer to our time to board, so we made our final bathroom runs and I talked to the girl at the gate about preboarding because of Adam's peanut allergy. Pretty simple, got the blue boarding sleeve and the tag for his stroller. I bought a stroller gate check bag, which at first I thought I was being a little nutso buying it but once I saw what the bag looked like after the first flight, I was glad I did!

Adam was getting antsy waiting because DH had to stay with the bags while I took care of getting the preboard pass and stroller tag, so Adam had to stay seated. This was pure torture for him because of the other kids running around. I have to admit, I was getting nervous about flying with him and how he'd do.

We decided I would go on to preboard and wipe the seats, trays, seat belts etc down and get everything ready. We also figured it would be easiest if I could take as much as I possibly could so DH would only have a bag and Adam. Once they started to preboard I got in line behind the wheel chairs and waited my turn. I must have looked pretty comical dragging the huge stroller bag, 2 book bags and a duffle bag on to the plane. I picked about the 3rd row of seats, dropped my stuff and got to scrubbing. Before I knew it DH and DS had gotten on and were ready to sit down. DS got the window seat and DH said he'd take the middle so he could take care of DS so I could get a break. Before we knew it we were taxing to the run way, cleared for take off and in the air! Adam was loving it and was drinking from his sippy to help with his ears.

Shortly they announced there would be drink and snack service but no peanuts would be served because of a peanut allergy on board. Thankfully no one groaned or had an issue about it or this Momma Bear was going to roar! They served some crispy fruit bar things but DS couldn't eat them because they were made in a factory that processes peanuts. We had snacks for him so it was really no big deal. I was also impressed Southwest had lids and straws for the little beverage cups so Adam was able to drink from it and feel like a big kid.

The flight was super smooth and Adam did really well. We were hoping he would nap but he never did. He played with stickers, colored, played with his trucks, our iphones and snacked. At one point he let out this shriek of excitement and you could just see the panic on my and DH's face. We were scared he had decided he had enough and was done, thankfully we were wrong! At the end of the flight he had this glazed looked on his face and we weren't sure if he was going to get sick or fall asleep, thankfully he didn't get sick, but we were worried!

We landed 20 mins early which was super exciting until they said we had to wait for a gate! Thankfully it wasn't a long wait and we still got in early! Since we were so close to the front of the plane we go off pretty quickly but didn't realize it'd be a bit of a wait for the stroller. Adam was glad to get off the plane and be able to move around a bit.

The monorail ride was a highlight for Adam, I keep telling him if he thought that was great wait until we hit the real deal! We had a bit of a hike to ME and we were just trying to get there as fast as possible in hopes of getting DS down for a nap. It was now about 10 and he had been up since 4:30 am.

We made a huge mistake by leaving the stroller in the gate check bag and carrying our 30 lbs toddler instead of using the stroller for him and to hang the bags on. Now we know for next time!

Hardly no wait for ME, the nice lady who checked our voucher first gave Adam a Duffy sticker kept him happy for a while. The line started moving quickly but got cut off before us! I was worried we were going to have a long wait until the next bus came along but it was maybe 10 mins before a bus showed up. It loaded up quickly and we were on our way. We shared with CBR but we were the first stop!

DS was so excited to be on a bus, as this was his first time. He enjoyed looking out the window and watching the video that they showed. We were able to spot the Characters in Flight balloon on our ride to Pop. This really excited DS as he is in love with hot air balloons. The ride went pretty quickly but nothing feels as good as driving under "the sign".

The picture isn't the best, but it's from a camera phone, on a moving bus with a toddler grabbing at it!

Sounds like your trip got off on a smooth start, I can not imagine traveling with a little one and all the extra items one has to bring along...........can not wait to read more

My parents were already at Pop waiting for us. They are snowbirds and were in FL so they just had a short drive over to Pop to meet us. They were very eager to see Adam (it had been 6 weeks) so they were waiting at Pop before our flight even landed! I called my mom when we could see the guard shack at Pop so they knew when to expect us. We intentionally sat on the right side of the bus so Adam would be able to look out of the bus window and hopefully see my parents waiting. He saw them as soon as we pulled up and started calling for them. Let me just say it's good we say where we did so I was able to get him off the bus fast and into the the waiting arms of his grandparents! :grouphug:

I didn't even notice the red carpet or the greeter with the Mickey hands until I went to help DH grab the stroller off the bus. It's a nice touch, I wish I would have paid more attention!

My dad took Adam for a walk around the lobby while my mom and I checked in and DH sat with our carry ons. I think he was trying to catch a nap and wasn't doing to good of a job paying attention to our stuff. :rolleyes1

The check in line looked a lot scarier than it really was. I didn't do on line check in, I'm not really sure why I just never did. The only request we had was connecting rooms. My parents room was ready but our room was not. The funny thing is they couldn't give me the room # but was able to tell me it connected with my parents. Ummm, yeah I think I can figure out what room # it was based on that! :confused3. Anyway, I gave them my cell phone and asked to be text messaged when it was ready. *side note, when I stayed at Pop with my parents a few years prior, our room was about 10 doors away from where we were this trip!*

We were in the 50's building, I forget the building # but it was the one with the jukebox, 4th floor facing some trees. I think we were 2418 and 2419 but I'm not positive. We dropped our stuff off in my parents room, washed up and headed down to the food court. I also peeked in the windows of what would be our room and the people's stuff was still in it and it was after 1130 at that point.

We headed down to the food court as we were starving since all DH and I had were the bricks, I mean bagels we bought at the airport. Adam was in love with the elevator and all of the over sized icons. We had to walk past Lady and the Tramp every day and he loved to stop and say hi to the "woof woof".

The food court was empty! I was surprised to see how empty it was, but my parents and I said we think it's the first time any of us had ever been there in the middle of the day. We are normally only there early morning and late night. My parents sat down with Adam and gave him some fruit while DH and I tried to figure out what we wanted. I was trying to explain the dining plan to DH and I wasn't doing a very good job. Not to mention I don't think it's marked very well what is considered a snack or dessert option. At one point DH goes, why can't we just switch to a room discount instead of this free dining!??! It was really overwhelming, we were hungry and tired so it wasn't the best first experience with FD. I was really disappointed in myself because I thought I understood it inside and out. DH settled on some form of a burger and I got the supreme nachos, DH was very excited when I told him he can have a sundae for dessert lol. DH saw what lunch would have cost us without FD and was starting to like it better already! We had our receipt stamped so we could get the sundaes when we were finished.

DH took my food back to the table so I could figure out what to do for Adam's lunch. Per Chef Dan he told me to go to the pizza pick up counter and tell them I had a food allergy order. I was really impressed with how quickly they sprang into action paging a chef and how quickly someone came out. I was greeted by Chef Elizabeth who was super nice. I never introduced myself (once again, tired and lack of food did not have me at my best) but told her my son had peanut, tree nut and egg allergies and she responded with you must be Rebekah! This totally blew me away! I couldn't believe that they were really expecting us like that! When I talked to Chef Dan on the phone 2 and 1/2 weeks prior he said he'd make them aware of our arrival but I wasn't expecting that! Needless to say this started our first allergy meal off in a very positive note. I ordered him pizza with a side of grapes and strawberries.

That was the lid on his pizza, it was really cute! Adam loved the fruit, the pizza on the hand was awful. Adam tried one bite and said "no, no, no!" and then put it back on my plate. I tried it and it was bad. It's no fault of the chef but it was the super duper allergy friendly stuff, so it covered all sorts of allergies leaving it pretty tasteless. He had enough other stuff to eat, so I didn't worry about it, it was just a shame to toss the whole thing.

Awe Adam sounded so cute, I loved how he said woof woof to lady and tramp, my youngest use to call Santa HO HO when he was little

That is really impressive that the Chef knew you were coming and even recalled your name
