I just have to whine a bit. I've been dying to take my boyfriend to WDW for his first trip as an adult and our first vacation in the 4 years we have been together. I want him to love it as much as I do.

I was all set for us to go to in September which would be an early anniversary celebration for us (our Anniversary is Oct). I have never gone when the Halloween decorations were up and we both love Halloween. I was soooo looking forward to MNSSHP. We were even going to be able to get in a day or two of the F&W Festival.

I booked back in February with an awesome PIN code rate so decided to stay Deluxe this time (AKL). I was able to make all my ADRs at the 180 day mark (never booked that early before). I planned, and planned, and perfected the plans some more.

I stayed up until 1am and booked my FP+ reservations....and then....I had to cancel the.very.next.day. :faint:

Turns out my bf has to have knee surgery in early August so he likely won't be healed in time, nor has he been able to confirm he can get the time off since he's been off on disability and we don't know when he will go back.

I guess the good news is that thanks to the fall room discount I was able to rebook us for early December. It is a few hundred more but I can still justify staying at AKL. Instead of an anniversary trip we'll be there for my birthday. I went back in 2010 during my birthday so I have already been during the Christmas season.

In any case, please send good vibes our way that he will be healed in time for December to handle walking at WDW and that he will be able to get the time off even after being off for a few months due to the injury. I will be crushed if I have to cancel again.

Thanks for listening to me vent/whine/complain/cry. I have already waited 5 months. What is 5 more right?

I am so sorry! I feel for you. I so wanted to get my son to WDW for years (actually getting close to two decades) but could not afford it. We recently moved to FL, which cuts a lot of costs, and I am taking him for his first stay in Sept. He turns 16 in Aug. It was long awaited and I missed out seeing him experience the magic as a young child but I am so happy I can now experience this with him. I know you have to be crushed. If you need to wait a little longer, even the beginning of 2015, I know you will enjoy having the experience with your boyfriend. It will not be fun for either one of you if his knee is not healed.:tinker: Sending lots of pixie dust for quick healing. I hope you are able to go in Dec.

I'm not sure what kind of knee surgery your bf is having but I had a partial meniscus removal and was able to walk comfortably within a couple of weeks...and I was running again within the first couple of months.

Sending some healing vibes your bf's way!!! pixiedust:

Hope you have a great vacation!!

I've always wanted to experience WDW through the eyes of my child. Unfortunately I have never had any so my bf is the next best thing! I'm so happy for you that you will finally get to experience it together!

That is good to hear! He is having some kind of meniscus surgery. Not sure if it is removal or just clean up/repair. We will know more after he goes to his next appointment.
