Got new shoes today - same brand, style I have been wearing for 4 years, but there is something about new ones :cloud9:

Makes me feel like I did when I was a little kid and would get new Keds or PF Flyers (anyone remember those?) each spring. What a rush! Okay, I'll admit it doesn't take much to make me happy. :rolleyes1

Figure these will be perfectly broken in for the Minnie Weekend :thumbsup2

So True! I put on my new shoes 2 days ago to 'get them ready' for the Minnie 15K and I felt like I could walk on air. :) They really worked, after several days of my legs feeling like lead, my first day in my new shoes I walked a pace of 13.3 (slow to some of you, but fast for me) and felt wonderful. It's the power of new shoes!:goodvibes

I think athletes like us have a stronger relationship with our equipment. It has to go the distance with us. Much like the weapons and armor a warrior takes into combat, our gear has to work for us, cause when the starting gun fires, you have to go with what ya got.

Yes I remember the Kids and PF Flyers. The new ones felt so good because we had worn the soles and cushion of the old ones completely out.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Hey DisneyWalkingGirl: What kind of shoes did you get? I just got my first pair of "running" shoes last Wednesday. They are Brooks. I had to order them online because I needed a 2E width, which is hard to find in women's running shoes. I love them. They are my first "sneaker" that is made of something other than leather. The mesh is so breathable. And, if you have the special "running" socks (not cotton), then you're really set. And, so SamSam, 13.3 is FAST. I'm only at a 17 minute/mile pace (at my fastest) so far. The 15K is going to be a real challenge for me. But, I'm on a personalized training program, so I think I can do it. I'll dodge the sweepers.

I love getting new running shoes! As a matter of fact, I was just thinking about how my relatively new shoes should be perfect for the Minnie, but now I'm getting jealous! :rolleyes1 Enjoy them!

I am an Aiscs Cumulus girl - I have been through versions 6, 7 , 8 and now 9 :goodvibes

I found some gold toe performance socks that I adore several years ago. Now I buy them in bulk direct from manufacturer or take a 60 mile trip to our closest outlet. Like Panda says - we have strong relationships with our gear.

Keep thinking positive about your pace SuperDebbie - are you training anywhere that is hilly? I train on a local 4 mile park loop that has 2 killer hills - I know I am doing great there if I pace under 15 mins miles for anything over 4 miles. When I then enter races that are on relatively flat ground, my times drop by anywhere from 20 seconds to more than a minute per mile! Remember, the Minnie is pretty flat for the most part.

Good luck and see you in just a few weeks :wizard:

Superdebbie, You will do great! With your new shoes and the excitement from all the WISHERS your time will be be even better.

Part of my training includes walking a bridge, which is up hill and of course, downhill. I think it will really help me out. I just keep picturing myself crossing the finish line at the Minnie 15K!

I do the same thing. In fact, today was my long walk and when I reached 9 miles I started running so I could finish the end of the Minnie (in my mind) running.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
