Doing rides during parade/fireworks

I'm just curious, do the wait times drop a fair amount during the parade/fireworks? (especially in summer)
What is the best land to be in for rides, if you still want to catch a passing view of the fireworks as they're going off - Fantasyland or Frontierland?

We hit frontierland during the parade and rode Splash and Big Thunder with sub 10 minute waits. Before and after the parade they were 40+ minutes, so on that day (in Sept) there was a noticeable drop in wait times.
