Whoo-hoooooo!!! Just booked from 5/2 through 5/5 at HRH -- at an incredible rate, too! We could have done FL resident for $149 per night or Preferred AP for -- hold on to your boots -- $144 per night.

We're heading down with friends who only want to do WDW at the end of April ("USO is all coasters," they say ), and they've invited us to stay in their timeshare. How, how, how can we do the O-Hole with no Shrek, with no Spidey, with no hurricanes, with no pondering for days whether I'll ride the Mummy, with no fish & chips from my beloved Finnegan's??? No, I say. No deal. Plus, we've got those Bealls buy one year, get the next free passes just sitting here. Gotta put those puppies to work, right?

Anyway, I'm working from home this week and literally coming out of my skin. I needed to share with folks who would understand the feelings of utter joy and anticipation when you hear those final words with a TM, "Here is your confirmation number, XXX, and thank you for choosing Universal Resorts."

Hope I don't get another speeding ticket on the way down.

Macraven, I've had the Loews card for years, and I've never been able to "use" it since -- this is what US resorts tells -- I'm already getting such deep discounts.

Has this changed, or do I need to say something different when I book?

I love May, too. Hopefully the crowds will be as light as they've been in previous years

when you book, tell the clerk on the phone you have the loews first card.
book the cheaper room and you will get a free upgrade to the next level.

if you are at hrh and book garden, you get pool view and you save about, $30 a night.
you also get the daily paper free.
you can use the gym free
you can request a late check out w/out add'l charge.
you get a free welcome gift. see the website for the selections.

if you are blue, late check out is not guranteed and at 1 pm
if you are platinum or gold, it is 2 pm and guaranteed.

the website lists cookies and milk as one of the choices.
i always tell them i want cookies and coke and they give me 2 bottles for one person.

if you have already booked by on line, call the reservation number and have them mark the free upgrade now. if you wait too long, there might not be one available.

when you book and tell them you have the loews for the upgrade, it is guranteed at that time if you are gold/platinum.


if you book with AAA, you are entitled to the loews perks.
if you book with AP, you are not, but there are ways around that.......shh

each night stay adds to your points for loews which raises you up to a new level.

Well, here's me and my hubby. I'm sportin' a new "do," but it's not that much different. I took a photo of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction to my hairdresser, so that's my new "do."

Other than that, this is typically where we can be found, right where this photo is -- Finnegan's, at the bar, hangin' with some of the best bartenders in FL

Mac, I'm going to call ASAP and see what I can do. I've had a Loews card for years -- and it's even been upgraded somehow -- but they've never let us get all the perks when we're getting steep discounts. It's never bothered me, honestly, because we only sleep in the room, but, heck, if we can have a beer or wine waiting for us, that'd be great!

Care to share "the ways around that ... shhh"? Privately, if you'd prefer Because I've tried to use the card at least 20 times over the years, and HRH has always been very firm that I'd have to give up my AP or FL resident discounts to use the Loews perks.

Thanks, Phamton -- we love May, too. Hopefully the roads won't be too chaotic, but that's probably wishful thinking.

And no one will have to be irritated with us for not walking on the moving sidewalks this time. We'll be on a boat listening to the Stones to get from point A to point B

Wow, I haven't seen HRH that cheap in a very long time. My birthday just happens to fall within those dates too. Maybe, we'll see you all there.

I know what you mean about the Loews 1st perks. We never get them either, because we book using the FL res. rate. We did get credit on our last stay toward Loew's Gold. I can't figure out how they decide which stays to credit though. If they always gave us credit, we'd be Platinum by now. I have emailed them before expressing my displeasure in their selective discount bias. I pointed out AAA is also a discounted rate. Not only that, but I'm sure FL residents & AP holders are a large portion of their customer base. I made it clear that I was referring to the 3 UO resorts in my email. They did reply with the somewhat generic, "we'll discuss you're suggestions in our next meeting". Maybe, if more people contacted them, they'd reconsider.

since you booked on line and a loews member, call loews or the hotel you are staying at to add your loews first number so you can get the perks.

i only book by calling . i prefer to pay the one night deposit up front.
